Argyle playing tonight so less of this snoring rubbish. It seems that Alex Mitchell will be playing tonight.....he had turned out for Charlton in the first round....but the rules have changed this season and he will be eligible for us in the second round. Which is a good thing because Galloway and Szucs are out.....Ross seems not to be ready yet.....and it might not be wise playing Benarous three times in a week.
Ashby-Hammond...Edwards...Mitchell...Wiredu...Sorinola...Ibrahim...Roberts...Finn...Oseni...Hatch...Pepple. Subs Baker...Tolaj...Mumba...Benarous...Watts...Boateng...Issaka...Mwaro...Campbell. 6 youngsters in squad.....3 starting...3 in subs. Oseni and Pepple both starting.........Tolaj on bench......Edwards starts and is captain.
Both teams started with 8 changes from their league teams. Argyle started well and were the better side for the first 15 minutes. Swansea came into it of course in a three quarters unoccupied stadium. They took the lead with a blistering 25 yard shot which flew over the keeper’s head. There should have been a free kick for Argyle the build-up. Justice was restored by a short-range back post header from Wiredu almost on half time The second half started in similar vein with Swansea showing their Championship credentials but Argyle not being overrun. A rash of substitutions gave Argyle something more like the Saturday team. This showed as the game ebbed in Argyle’s favour. End-to-end play ensued. Tolaj missed a good chance as did Freddie Issaka. What was I saying about the rarity of penalty shoot-outs…….. To be taken in the empty end instead of the one hosting the Green Arrmy…….of course….. Sorinola has his penalty saved.
