For Sheffield Wednesday, the upcoming fixture presents a mixed bag of emotions. Manager Henrik Pedersen will have been pleased with the spirit shown by his team to come from behind in a 2-2 draw with newly promoted Wrexham at the weekend, securing their first point of the league season. That solitary point leaves Wednesday languishing in 21st place, level with Queens Park Rangers in the relegation zone, though still marginally ahead of city rivals Sheffield United. Adding to the pre-match concerns for Owls fans is their dire home record; Hillsborough has witnessed only one victory in their last 11 matches, with six defeats suffered in their most recent eight clashes in front of their own supporters. The injury list for Wednesday is significant, potentially forcing Pedersen into several changes. Bruno Fernandes, who started behind strikers Charlie McNeill and Ike Ugbo in the previous round, is sidelined, with Sean Fusire a strong contender to take his place in the starting XI. In the heart of midfield, Nathaniel Chalobah is out until mid-September with a hamstring injury, meaning Olaf Kobacki, Rio Shipston, and Jarvis Thornton are all vying for minutes. Centre-back Di'Shon Bernard will miss the clash with a knee injury. Daniel Farke, meanwhile, faces his own selection headaches, and opportunities to integrate new talent. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is unlikely to feature as he continues to build fitness, which could see Lukas Nmecha step in for Joel Piroe up top. Ethan Ampadu and AO Tanaka are both dealing with respective MCL knee injuries, opening the door for Sean Longstaff, Ilea Gruev, and Sam Chambers to pick up significant minutes in the centre of the park. Defensively, Leeds could unveil a new-look backline, with recent signings and centre-back pairing Sebastiaan Bornauw and Jaka Bijol both in line to start, flanked by Darl Darlow between the sticks. New signing Noah Okafor could make his Leeds Utd debut on the left wing, allowing Wilfred Gnonto to battle it out with Dan James on the right flank.

Perri byram Rodon Bijol Harrison Longstaff Stach Gruev James Piroe Okafor Perri needs minutes Bijol needs to play with a possible partner Harrison will be ok at FB against Sheff Wed MF need game time after Saturday Piroe is proven against Championship clubs and could do with a goal. James needs minutes. I prefer to see us use this game to get our confidence back
Morning all. Not wanting to be contrary but I don’t think we should be making wholesale changes for this one. We are only two games in so players can’t be tired. Think we need to integrate some of the new signings but play the bulk of the side that will face Newcastle to give them a chance to gel. Good time to get Bijol in for Struijk and assuming he plays well he keeps his place, same for Okafor, Nmecha. I’d probably go with Byram or Justin at RB as Bogle is still getting up to fitness. I think Darlow will be the “cup” goalkeeper but wonder if Farke would have the balls to keep him in if we look more secure. Somehow can’t see him dropping an expensive new signing after only two matches.
Dont want us to make loads of changes but I think we will. Expecting Dalow to be our Cup keeper. think both fullbacks will come out and James and Byram will come in. CB's I don't see Rodon playing but we do need to get Bijol up and running and it might be him and Struijk as that's another partnership we need to gel. Ampadu,Tanaka will be out I also think Stach will come out too. Gruev-Longstaff-Aaronsson will be involved. Nmecha deserves a start and may rotate with DCL Depending on how the game goes. Harrison or Okafor on the left in another rotation of minutes.
understand the Wendies have problems but why they 18/1 to win the game? are they going in with kids? I know the fans are boycotting the game are the players too lol. Yes we are fav's but 18/1 is massive for a home team and we are 1/8. Guess i need to have a geebles on there fan forum.
I understand that their manager said at the weekend he wasn’t going to play any of his first team, saving them for league matches. We’ll see.
yap 11 kids will start and the away end will outnumber the home end. so i guess we can do what we like tonight. Tek em all owt and play the squad players.
