They can **** off with that. He's worth £40 million tops.
Get Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart. Young, tall, physical, technical and a perfect fit. Also has an engine and the right type of personality. That's £60 million plus better spent.

He's not proven in the PL so we dont look at them. We have scouts.......well boy scouts for all the worth they add to our recruitment

We'll see. Maybe they should have done that before the season started. Everything is too slow on the non football side. Nearly 12 months for a CEO now. The word imminent has lost all meaning in NUFC world

It's because everything has to go through the notoriously slow Saudi's. That needs to stop. They need to appoint someone on site that is trusted so make decisions.

PL proven is such a cop out these days isn't it?
I dont understand our mentality on it. We are so scared of making a signing that might not work out that we dont even try. Larsen I think is a huge gamble and the Wissa saga is just like Geuhi one before. As fans we all knew we were being led down the garden path and wasting our time but we just keeping waiting and waiting and then we are left with stupid prices.

So naive man

Yup. There are some hidden gems out there that will come in, hit the ground running and score a ton of goals. More importantly, they'll have the mentality of Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gordon and chase every ****ing ball down.

Isak is and always was a lazy bastard who was anonymous most games.

Depends.

You look at players like Hoijlund, Antony, Sesko, all bought for over £70m each (and various others over the years), based on their performances in other European leagues and think, hmm, really?

I'm not saying it can't work, as equally there have been dozens of others who have come in and set the PL alight. I'm just saying it IS a gamble if you are looking at say £60m+ for your main striker option.

The likes of Chelsea can take that gamble easier than we can.

So then it's about having a good enough (and wide enough) scouting network to find the ones who are half that price. We don't appear to have that network.

We've all said it, the club needs to really enhance/overhaul the scouting to avoid this in future years.

In the meantime, if you do need to pay £60m+ for an experienced striker, do you go for one with PL experience?

We really need to be looking at the South American market. There are some crazy bargains over there.

We've proven plenty of times that PL experience is not needed at all. Almiron, Joelinton, Bruno, Tonali, Botman, Isak, Thiaw (unproven yet). You could even argue that Tino and Hall had limited PL experience when we signed them so if that's the main criteria we're basing our targets on then I'd be very surprised. Plenty teams have brought foreign talent in to the PL from overseas over the years, plenty have failed of course but there's a good portion that go on to light the league up.

We need to get better and quicker at finding these players that other clubs do as well as developing our academy and younger teams in parallel. We should absolutely not be paying £60m for a player Wolves had on loan last season and only paid £23m for to make permanent 6-8 weeks ago....we need to be finding these players for ourselves.

Agree with this. Closer to home, the Belgian league has some under the radar gems in the short-term.

Btw, speaking of the academy, Lewis Miley is not going to be the answer.

If the question is who at the club currently is better than Sean Longstaff then it is ! I'd rather let Willock leave and keep Miley being perfectly honest.
