That’s why they’re champions. Win when you probably shouldn’t

If two teams of a similar standard are challenging for the league then the luckier one will likely win. There is no possible way that performances like Liverpool's last night can be seen as enhancing their likelihood of winning the league other than by the gaining of three undeserved points. Outplayed the entire match despite opponents stupidly getting a red card, three important opposition players off injured, all from Liverpool fouls or flailing arms that were not punished. If repeated throughout the season, more likely to lead to losses than wins.

Of course if they play like that every game then they will unlikely win the league. But winning tight games when you’re not at your best and still taking 3 points is a big help to winning titles.

Of course it is but its not a strategy you should be complimented on...its just luck. For example there are very few games where they will injure three opposition players and not get even a yellow card for the three fouls.

To win when not playing well is more than just luck. Man Utd did it for years and years. Imo it comes down to mentality more than luck

I think it also comes down to having elite players who can take a chance that lesser players wouldn't take. A top striker will often score out of nothing. We experienced that with Kane and Bale. Teams without superstars have to play at a high team level to get a result.

I remember Maradona taking a fairly ordinary Argentina team to the world cup final in 1986 and beating West Germany in it.

I agree with that mostly but Liverpool had entirely the wrong mentality for most of yesterday's match. They committed loads of fouls and injured three opposition players.

That's their mentality in general, as they're allowed to get away with it

van Dijk would have as many red cards as Julian Dicks in any other team
