Me likewise, I left school in '82 and walked straight into a job. Mates of mine with a lot more qualifications than me pretty much did the same. At the time I think that was a common road to go down. However, I would always advocate getting the qualifications behind you, then hope to get a job to match those qualifications............should you desire.
As an aside I was pleased to see (as a maths graduate) that Maths was the most popular A level again. I also noted that 2/3 of the students taking it were Boys. Which even as a male I find a bit concerning. Even more important when will this country do something about the appalling under achievement of White working class children. particularly boys. It is truly a national disgrace.
OK That's my fault for thinking too deeply about it. It's 61 in Octal. Which as the late great Tom Lehrer said is just like decimal if you've had your thumbs chopped off....
Binary is fun, but gets a bit lengthy like Roman numerals. 7x7 = 110001 Where each number '1' to the left is worth twice as many. So 1 x 32 ..... 1 x 16 ..... 0 x 8 ..... 0 x 4 ..... 0 x 2 ..... 1 x 1 32+16+1 = 49
We've got a brilliant 18-year-old full back Brannan. You'll be hearing a lot more about him. Check out his goal against Hibs last week, or his assist against Dundee United today. He's just signed a long contract too. I only hope that when he does go, he doesn’t go to one of the Ugly Sisters.
Had a brilliant weekend in Edinburgh, saw two comedy acts at the Fringe , watched the pipers march out for the closing ceremony of the Tattoo and visited North Berwick - stunning views ! I prefer Edinburgh to London …… sorry guys !
I was at North Berwick earlier this year for a 60th. Lovely place, and the seafood chowder at the seaside cafe is fantastic.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get my seafood fix but will definitely be going back , did manage a couple of pints in the Golfers rest - it was like stepping back into the 70’s
