Everton got the better end of that deal for me. Hard to be sure how a youngster will turn out especially after being so completely different in the 2 halves of last season but he has a high ceiling. If he struggles or sets the world on fire at Everton, neither would surprise me. If selling him means we keep Fernandes then I'll settle for that; if we now sell Fernandes though it's likely yet another ****show unfolding
Really depressing transfer, we’ve seen it before and we’ll see it again. I guess we actually saw him play and got a transfer fee, which is better than other recent academy graduates. it’s hard to know how football can leave this spiral whilst players are treated as commodities, because you kind of can’t blame them for getting the first big pay day they can. good luck Tyler and thanks for doing a couple of world class things in a **** season.
Best window ever. Genuinely embarrassing that they created a signing video for a 3rd place goalkeeper on a day where we sell one of our best players. They're not brilliant at reading the pulse of the fans
Luckily they organised a fans’ forum for after the window, rather than a month before it closes. Oh wait…
A little bit of analysis heading into the last week of the transfer window. So far we have sold around £73-£74 million in guaranteed money with the sales of Sulemana, Bednarek, Tall Paul, Dibling, SAA, Juan, the young lad to Man Utd, and the Ramsdale loan fee. There is then around £10 million of add ons plus sell on fees for future figures. We have spent around £12/£13 million on Quarshie, Downs, Roerslev and Long on loan. Also to remember a big thing when relegated is to reduce wage bill, which has definitely been achieved. Last year we we around the £55 million per year and with the above sales loans plus the likes of Big Les, Lallana, KWP, Gronbaek, Lumley, Sugawara etc, the wage bill has come down drastically to around £32-£34 million per year. Will be a few more sales and loans I’d imagine going out with likes of Aribo, Edozie, Smallbone, ABK, hopefully BBD and a couple of others., (hopefully not Fernandes). Squad is now down to 27 senior players but that includes the likes of Aribo and Edozie.
This is exactly it. I would expect an underwhelming season for him in the Championship and getting less than £20 million next summer. I feel we have had Everton over.
I'm going to try my very hardest to be reasonably objective now, which is no small feat given how much I hate the ****s, but surely they have people who look at social media/forums. I believe most big business call it a "temperature check" or something similar. They must be aware of just how crucial this window is in terms of fan belief in their tenure? Now out of all Internet forums/social media, not606 seems the most patient and placid with regard to SR. On others people are already starting to get fairly annoyed and quite vocal in a way which makes me look like a fence sitter. Surely, surely they must be aware that if at the end of the window if we're left with that bloke from Boro and a winger no one has heard of, then they're totally ****ed? If that happens and we lose to the skates it'll bring toxicity back to the Rupert Lowe days
Agree, they have to get this week right as if they don't and we don't perform to expectations this season a large chunk of the fanbase will turn.
Funnily enough me and Tom were discussing that game on the way to Ipswich. Should have been the game it was decided Ralph would go in the Summer.
I don’t get it? He’d have left had we been relegated even if we still had him at the start of this summer. So the sentiment seems a bit muddled to me The real issue is not having a manager who played with a player like him when we had him. Not that we got rid of him when we did. And our current manager being able to use him - not relevant unless Still was in the frame for the job when Martin was hired
I don't know if it's a sign I'm getting old but I look at those new player videos and just wonder who signed off on them as a good use of time and funds
