TBF when Everton sell Dibling we could be looking at another 15-20mill.

Honestly think it's a risky signing from Everton. Did not see enough in his time here to warrant that amount of money so it's a good deal for us. He had a 50% good season and a god awful other half so it's a 50/50 as to which one they get.

The main thing I noticed with him was that if it wasn't played at his place he was so easily dismissed from the game.

Taking a slightly smaller upfront fee, but a 20% sell on fee should be more beneficial for us (if he goes on to be the player we all think he can be).

He was about 5th choice at Norwich. We were never going to be so lucky that he’d play against us.

It’s an okay price, for where he is right now. If he starts performing like he did at the start of the season again it’s going to look like a bargain. But then just got to hope he keeps it up to get the big clubs fighting over him.

Looks like we overplayed our hand with pushing for £45m+ and they were willing to walk away which we didn't expect to me.

Decent fee though imo. Hopefully he does well and earns a big move two years down the line.

We've had our pants pulled down there. Shockingly low fee. Sell on fee is a big risk; he could get injured, or run down his contract. Plus the whole 100m talk and 'won't lower our asking price' talk from two weeks ago, makes us look even more silly.

We wanted closer to £50 million 2 weeks ago, but I guess if either Dibling, Still or the board thought it was best to move him on for whatever reason then probably didn't want to scupper a deal. He only has 2yrs left of his deal as well. Hopefully he goes on to be a £100 million player (for absolutely no selfish reasons).

Agreed; especially when you see talk that we instigated this final round of talks etc as if we're going back with our tail between our legs; just makes us look like we've caved easily to the "bigger" boys - which may not bode well for Fernandes.

If they're children (i.e. from an u21 squad) then No, if they're actual ready to go first team players then I'm quite happy to look very silly indeed.

    Not at all.
    1. This is the optimum time for selling him, he would never have commanded a higher fee than now, if we held on to him.
    2. No one other than Everton were prepared to offer serious money for him.
    3. The 20% sell-on is fantastic business.

What matters most is that this money is immediately reinvested into new signings. First team signings not fringe players or wait and sees. Any efficient club would have those deals ready to go on the back of this deal and then I remember it’s SR at the helm and then I laugh soulessly.

Fernandes has 4yrs left on his deal, where as Dibling had 2yrs left. Can't really compare the two from a negotiation standpoint.

I don’t quite agree with point one. A season in the championship where you’d hope he’d boss it would absolutely increase his value, especially at New Year where at least one team is usually desperate for something. If he had a great couple months from now to January he would have been snapped up for £45 mill in the New Year but I’d honestly rather take 35 and some first teamers if that’s the plan here.

    Good luck Tyler

Not a bad fee for a player who had an average PL season

Tyler was superb in bursts last year. At a good team, that would be enough. Unfortunately he was with us!

We do need to spend this money on real quality and not on players with potential, or I think the fans will start to turn ugly.

I was just thinking if he had not come back from Chelsea we would've got bugger all so no complaints from me about what we got for him.

It’s so bad to me seeing that, knowing are already well underway in the season.
