Cabaye should have taken some recently, especially in shooting positions as I feel Raylor's shots from free kicks recently haven't been as good.

But your gambles usually seem to pay off. Look at some of your summer signings, the only Dud has been Marveux.

I've said numerous times i'd rather Cabaye than Raylor. As with most freekick takers though, fans generally hype up their ability after scoring against certain teams, or the one off freekick...

Personally, i reckon Cabaye is far better. Better technical ability, better eye for the killer pass, etc... Hopefully he'll start taking more.

He also strikes the ball far better. A lot of continental players are more adept at set pieces than home grown talent.

Hence a dud. Doesn't matter how good you are if your injured all the time. And speaking as a gooner, i know a thing or two about injury prone players...

Like Van Persie was? We'll give him a chance.

Van Persie still is. You don't become un-injury prone overnight. Why do you think we rest him so often, can't afford to take the chance that he'll break.

I think even Marveaux could turn into a great free signing if he recovers from his injuries. He's a classy player. The jury is still out on whether he's a good signing or not long-term.

The gambles do usually pay off, but there's a risk with each one, especially when we're buying the out-of-form ones. If there's no reason to gamble (i.e. trying to buy a player worth much more than what we paid) then I see little point in yet more risk. Loans aren't really much about value for money like that. They're just about taking someone off a another teams hands for half a season who isn't getting enough games at that club.

Now if we're getting a loan move with an option to buy, then it's a different story.

I was going to say 'is' but look how well he's doing. Obviously I'm not saying that Marveaux will end up like RVP but he can be good still when he comes back, although it could be a long wait to see him at his best.

I don't doubt that Marveaux is a good player, your scouts aren't stupid, it's just i'd like to see him on the pitch more.
