Noticed The Waterloo pub is having a new roof fitted after years or stagnation. The development will be good news for some of the pubs down/near old Hedon Road too.
They've been on it for weeks, with not much progress. It'd need serious money to become a pub again, I've visited the antique emporium in there a few times and it's interior is dilapidated. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
It's a shame about those old pubs round the Old Hedon Rd, used to be a real good circuit in it's day.
A look around Hull city centre in photos from the 1970s - Hull Live https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/history/gallery/vibrant-hull-city-centre-looks-6951130?utm_source=linkCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar Amazing how clean and well kept Hull was in the 70's compared to now please log in to view this image
I'd had a look at these already this morning in the HDM,they're very nice and bring back some lovely memories
I saw some enrichment on Saturday afternoon when I walked by the war memorial...2 of our 'guests' sitting swigging beer in it.
Is it just me or was it more aesthetically pleasing to the eye back then....what ever happened to good taste ?
It's what i remember a lot of Hull looking like.. except HRI was built - I left in the early 1990s for good.
Only 50 years ago, which is really no time at all, yet it's like a different world. Rather than spend multi-millions re-doing Queens Gardens every 6 months, why didn't they just maintain it? All that wasted money
