Next 4 games Brugges (a) CL Celtic (h) L Hearts (h) L Hibs (h) LC Likliehood is Brugges put us out our misery on Wednesday, he's then got a must-win game against Celtic, another must win against Hearts then Hibs in the QF of the league cup. As things stand, I would bet good money on us losing our next 4 games.
Have lots of Rangers mates ( work for a Scottish company ) and none of them wanted The Pound shop Pep as the new manager - in my eyes he's an ego driven charlatan that is only concerned about enhancing his image. He's totally delusional - feel sorry for the Gers fans.
Have to admit I thought he was a poor fit for Rangers, but even then I didn't think he would be as bad there as he has. My original feeling was that he would get the results against the non-Old Firm teams, but get slapped in Europe and by Celtic. Instead he is getting slapped by everyone. All he needs is a tiny bit of flexibility and reflection but he is completely incapable of it. Possibly the most stubborn football manager to ever exist and it will kill his career.
Yeah I think, similar to his start with us, it will turn domestically once the players fully understand what he wants them to do. This isn’t some revolutionary style that batters teams because of it, it’s down to having a much better squad than most of the opposition (like he had with us in the Championship). When you play anyone who is similar ability/slightly worse/slightly better/a lot better you get absolutely battered. I know nothing about Scottish football but I assume Rangers aren’t just looking to beat other sides domestically, they want some results/runs in Europe and beating Celtic. Martin won’t achieve either of those with any regularity
Sadly, he`ll have been run out of town by the time Aberdeen play Rangers. I reckon Brugge`s first goal was all down to Martin`s tactics of turning his keeper into Franz Beckenbauer - Djiga was so confused, he didn`t know if Butland was going to come for it, or if he should play it (he should have), and in the end they did neither.
Our problem last season wasn't Europe or being unable to beat Celtic as we got to the QF of the Europa and beat Celtic twice (and should've beaten them in the LCF too bar a horrendous refereeing decision), our issue last season was beating the rest of the teams in the league. So far, domestically, we got battered off Motherwell and were lucky to draw, we struggled to beat League 1 Alloa 4-2 (got a dodgy pen via VAR), drew at Ibrox against a hopeless Dundee team, and scraped a draw versus St Mirren. RM said it was a good draw because they beat us there last season The fans online are going absolutely mental.
He's said that the fans were never pro-Martin because he didn't have a fancy name, but it's because we saw his past record and failures, and we've had enough of the pishy slow football against teams with 11 men behind the ball, who treat a 1-0 defeat versus us akin to them winning the world cup. He then criticised the atmosphere at Ibrox last week because the fans were going nuts because we were 3-0 down at home to Brugges after 20mins, and our CB and GK were pissing about passing the ball to each other.
Can't wait until he openly criticizes your fans for having the audacity to question his tactics. Last season he blamed us for the loss against Aston Villa away because fans sarcastically cheered a long kick out. At this point we were P15 W1 D2 L12. He should have been dragged out of the city after that and might have if not for being sacked immediately after the following game (where we conceded 4 in the first 20 mins). Imagine what will happen if he tries it on Rangers fans after another embarrassing defeat.
We feel your pain Edge. During last season I thought we had changed our name to Woeful Southampton FC because every match report started the same.
I predicted he'd say almost exactly that after yesterday Absolute ****ing fraud of a manager. While I do feel sorry for you lot I have to be honest and say I'm loving this. **** is like ****ing therapy for me.
Martin's results at Rangers are entirely predictable. I think Rangers will stick by him but reckon ge will be fired by the end of September. Just think the league campaign will he over by then with only the cup to play for. If Martin remains in charge i think relegation is feasible.
Sorry, I meant as a live forum….fans, Russell, journalists, someone of the board having a question and answer session.
