Any link Bob? Shall I fly in for the Charlton game? Could make for an miserable and expensive weekend
Kelman is not his fault. In fact it isn't anybody's fault. He was ****e for the first three years. Never developed into the finished product and so never featured for more than a few appearances each season under different managers. Then he came good at Orient and now has a grudge against the club. It happens.
It is customary for the moneymen to leave everything to do with the team and the football to the person they have appointed to coach. They know about money. So I am led to believe. They know nothing about players or tactics. We'd all love players of the calibre of Zidane and Bellingham to play for us. Some ownbers might want someone like Pellicori. We have a CEO who has been very clear about the way he/the Board want the team to play. He spent all summer buying players and selling a very few while we had no manager. It was clear from last season that Cifuentes had no say in recruitment. Although it many be that on the Continent it's the money men who do the negotiating and the deals, it remains the fact that with the exception of fools like Briatore they buy and sell the players the coach wants. The last two seasons, this Summer in particular, that has not been the case. Lest we forget. Cifuentes had clearly fallen out with Nourry. It doesn't take a genius to work out the reason why. He is not a glove puppet. He also felt very much loved and supported by the fan base. So yes, he looked around for opportunities elsewhere because it was Nourry's way or no way.
I fear Stephan will sink without trace and we'll be scrabbling for a replacement mid September. Which of course will be another disaster
I can totally understand the idea of the club buying players rather than the manager saying who he wants, mainly due to the shelf life of the championship manager. The manager then has to decide how to set the team up, what formation and what players he will utilise in his preferred formation. The club, instead has set this out all the way from the u8's to the first team, apparently for a more easy transition. Great in theory but really difficult to do in practise. You're basically appointing someone just to take care of the team on a Saturday. The passing out from the back, first and foremost needs players capable of doing so. A good press can unsettle even the best of players. Did teams never win games when keepers took long goal kicks? Purchasing all these tiny wingers, with a low sense of gravity, hoping to play the ball on the deck, that requires central midfielders creative enough to play an accurate forwards pass to them but first the defence has to be able to play those balls into midfield. Everything has a knock on effect in every scenario.
Makes perfect sense to me. There is a reason after all why teams that climb through the leagues change their players regularly as they continue their ascent. It takes players with different skill sets to succeed in each league.
He probably asked the right questions and didn't just accept the 'I have a dream............blah blah, project blah project... ' bullshit.
If JS wants to keep his job he should get Nardi back in asap regardless of what the issue is. *unless it’s an injury
