It was news to me too, my first thought was Barry Town, however historically, the club's biggest rivals are Gloucester City. The two clubs played over 120 times in their history, making it one of the most played Anglo-Welsh derbies in football. In the late 1990s and early 2000s Newport County were local rivals.
Youngsters beat Wolves 5-0 in a pre-season friendly. A bit odd having a pre-season friendly after having a couple competitive cup games.
Worth a watch. When we discussed playing style last year, we said it would be better to align the 1st team with the 21s rather than the other way round. It looks as that may be the case. A lot of similarities based on this and Saturday's games. Home
Under 18s played Wendies. 2 nil up, 2-4 down, lost 3-4. Mannie Barton ( I think it was) looking sharp on the left. https://tv.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/videos/cf4111aa-ce2b-4545-a45a-82a02e1999d8
21s with a hard fought draw. Barton involved up an age grade. https://tv.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/videos/f8338a8c-be43-4a1a-9dda-535e11594e81
City under 21's beat Crewe on their own patch this afternoon 0 - 3. Troy Perret scored the opener and our under 18's player Robert Tankiewicz got the other 2.
I need to keep an eye on who they're playing. I could be in Crewe in half an hour. I worked there for nearly 2 years over two periods.
Yes, but you get to 1st team games, which I struggle with, unless we're away. It would be nice to see them play as well. I went to gresty road years ago to watch us play. I think Lennie was manager. We were winning and he brought a 3rd CB on (Page was playing). We lost all control and they equalised. Funnily enough, I was talking to a neighbour who is a Crewe supporter earlier today. It was with him I went to watch the game.
There are a few more knocking on the door. Luey Giles seems to have disappeared though. Not sure if he played today.
Luke Pearce seems to have dissappeared from the fringes of the first team as well. Dunno if he's injured but I think he made it onto the bench last season when we had far more players on the books to choose from than now.
Didn't spot Luey Giles on the pitch. Certainly not at LB. I wonder if B B-M has any input to the way the 21s play? The full backs certainly appear at the corner of the 18 yard box as with the 1st team. It would make sense for the two to be aligned. https://tv.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/videos/d6b8ca0c-749f-48d8-afd5-69cc480f3e9e
18s with a 2-3 win away at Hull. Some good goals and a bit of sloppy defending. https://tv.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/videos/7d86e96b-1070-410e-b3a1-ff8f3a68f96e
A good win fir the 18s against Barnsley. Our no 9 looks sharp. The way their no 5 turned and chased makes Flint look like a gazelle. https://tv.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/videos/1ac2196a-4a4f-4d6c-b1d5-0a0fe4c8289c
Another interesting game for the lads tomorrow morning............. https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/u18-match-centre-wrexham-vs-cardiff-city
