“ That was a remark about energy management in the hybrid system, team principal Frederic Vasseur said. Leclerc's pace then dropped dramatically in the final stint, making him vulnerable to Russell. Vasseur said that Leclerc had a problem with his car after his pit stop, the cause of which he was not yet sure.” Who knows…
An “in off her partner’s ball” hole in one for Mimi Rhodes. https://youtube.com/shorts/f2UjosvN7z8?si=iD_gtvLJDU8DDTCQ
30 years ago, today, Jonathan Edwards set a new world record for the hp, skip and jump of 18m 29cm. The record still stands with the second best attempt, recorded 10 years ago by an American, set at 18m 21cm. 8cm is quite an impressive gap in the scheme of things.
Yeah saw in interview with him this morning and he actually said that he was disappointed that the record still stands given the advance in sports science, training methods, nutrition etc. He also went as far as saying that it wasn’t a good look for the sport.
Ronnie O’Sullivan makes two 147 breaks in the same match to beat Chris Wakelin in the semifinal of the Saudi Masters. He is now the oldest player to score a maximum in competition https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/articles/c39dp0v7ny1o
Amazing player. I watched his first one on YouTube and hadn’t realised he made a second. You have to feel a little bit sorry for the other player who scored a maximum, who has seen his prize drop from £50,000 to 1/3 of that.
Really chuffed for Tommy Fleetwood, getting his first PGA Tour victory. The third time this summer he has led after 3 rounds but the first time he has held off the chasing pack, which for most of the final round was the world number 1, number 4 and a couple ranked 20&21. Good timing with the Ryder Cup not far off.
Emma Raducanu has won her first round match at the US Open, against a qualifier and faces another qualifier in the second round, who beat a highly ranked opponent (24? I think). I read that Emma has taken on the ex coach of Nadal, so it will be interesting to see if he can raise her game. Her recent match against the world number one, Sabalenka, who beat her in straight sets at Wimbledon, went to 3 sets this time and included a game that lasted 22 minutes. Emma lost 7-6,4-6,7-6 which indicates that she might be getting back to her best.
