Depends how good the striker is, can we bring in an experienced striker that is better than mayenda, isidor and guiu without making a massive loss and eating into the budget that we will be using for a centre back and a winger? I very much doubt it.

My main point is that Mayenda missed a big opportunity today, all strikers do but there’s a lot more to the game of football than buying an experienced striker, I thought Sunderland fans would have learned that in the last year

Don’t think we should forget that how effective playing a front two was at times for us last season. Helps both Mayenda and Wilson massively.

I understand. Perhaps we all forget how young these lads are. Games bring confidence

Aye. A lot of the lads doubled their amount of PL experience today. It will be a steep learning curve.

#Italiano to SkySport: “#Lucumi? It's madness to keep the transfer market open with the championship. There are players who talk to their agents before the match, who want to leave. For me, it's an absurdity.”

hmm, i would still like to see another CB brought in, not that i do not rate the present ones but i think having the numbers there will be a big help through the season...an 'either side' winger would also be a bonus.

as for a striker, i do not think it would make a difference, fair enough if we were getting a fair few chances and all were being missed but there are simply not enough chances being created...i think RLB and staff can get this current squad working well together but we need to remember how little time they have been together, had they all arrived near the end of the window we would be expecting them to take a couple of months to start to click, so they still have time.

It's basically the same for every league. The transfer window should be shut before all the leagues start

I agree but would be tough with different league start dates

Being greedy, I'd love us to sign 4 more players.

    CB - Desperate for one
RW - We need better than Roberts and to give Talbi a challenge
LW - We need Le Fee in the middle and to give Adingra a challenge. Can we rely on Mundle with his hamstring issues?
STR - We have good options but do we have a 15 goal a season striker?

Then it depends on who we sell from the first team

No we don’t have a guarenteed 15 goal a season striker.

they cost about 80 million :D

Just hoping we get some breakthroughs early on next week so we could have them in the squad for Brentford. Seelt needs a loan so would be nice to have a CB

fine margins and limited chances in the premier league

would wager Isak scores the mayenda chance and that’s the difference

yes we’re comparing someone at the start of their footballing journey to one of the world best but the point still stands.

it all depends on who is available etc but it would naive to suggest that openda for example wouldn’t be an upgrade.

mayenda has a new deal because the club value him and rightly so but that doesn’t mean he should be our main striker.

we’ve got 3 including a loan and having 4 strikers is not unheard of, especially when you consider isidor is more a left forward.

the striker position is arguably 3rd or 4th on the list of priorities and arguably a luxury but that all depends on the forward/winger they get.

Something like this should do it...
Jhon Lucumi - good chance this will happen now
Adam Daghim - Big, leftie, plays both wings, No 10 and CF, huge sell on potential
Christantus Uche - Big, 2 footed, attacking midfield and CF, available cut price from Getafe, huge sell on potential
