More like a takeaway.
Absolutely not. As someone else (sorry can't remember who) in the thread said earlier they've had the best part of a year to prepare for this. We were told that SR shouldn't be spending money in the Jan transfer window as we were down already, and we'd be spending it in the summer. We were told Spors had a master plan and we had an advantage over the likes of Leicester because we knew who our new manager was. He's had the entire close season to work out tactics, game plan and formations.

If the grand total of the hierarchies achievements in nearly 9 months is to get us playing like a 7 year old on FIFA, spamming the cross button with absolutely no idea what our strongest 11 is, then what the **** have they be doing?
Please can I suggest that you sit back (comfortably) and, whilst you're chilling...... work out how long it might take to get everyone & everything in place?
E.G. Working notice periods; contract negotiations timescales; cash flow into club? Cash flow out of club; to identify just a few key considerations

Jeeze, talk about mad panic.

Ipswich are 18th and they're meant to be walking the league.

See how things progress after the transfer window is done. Today was a bit ugly, but there we are. Our midfield of Matty, Charles and Downes (who in particular was awful) were poor today, yet we all think they're a cheat-code midfield in this league. They probably are, but they had an off day.

No need to panic at all. We're not going to win every game, and the games where we're going to look off the boil are these early ones whilst we're still trying to work out who is playing for us, let alone systems, new tactics etc. Exactly the same as Ipswich.

We could do with a goal off one of the striker's arses to give them a bit of confidence, but all this "poor manager" nonsense. Really, seriously, chill out for a bit. If we're still **** going into October, then fine, but not now ffs.
What a refreshing take on this. Obviously I can’t comment on the game, not being there, and disappointed with a poor result but always reckoned we might have to be a bit patient, not a Saints fan’s natural stance, and maybe have a better view come mid-October onwards.

I thought you were joking, I now realise you weren’t

I was positive for five minutes. But nah. Another clueless one basically.

Five defenders and two DMs. AT HOME TO STOKE. <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Whaaat the f*ck is that?

No one was willing to shoot. No one tried a through ball. Just cross after cross, to a 5"7 striker.

What a tactical masterclass.

Can't wait for Rangers to next play so we can all laugh at Russ.

Yes, I hope that he is learning because we fans know that 3 CBs and Adarma up top does not work. I hope to see a different line up next league match.
Yeah, it does make you wonder how he prepared for this season
Did he watch games from last season, did he ask any of the staff their views? It should not take a prepared coach a pre- season and then four games to realise what 90% of the fan base already know

Yeah mini Lincoln said exactly the same thing. Problem is with the skates up next, we don't have time. I think we've possibly the most patient and passive fan base in existence (apart from me obviously) and surely by now it's starting to click for people just how ****ing incompetent those at the top are. Its all well and good saying wait a couple of months, but why should we? They've already had tonnes of chances and more than enough opportunity to have sorted it.

What can you do about it though? The ownership since I’ve been a saints fan has always been incompetent, bar one year in 2009/2010 and God soon put pay to that.

Very frustrating.

I think my main takeaway is I thought we looked very disjointed in attack; no cohesion between any of the attackers and all looked to be on different wavelengths, to be honest.

I don't get the argument that he hasn't got enough attacking players to play a back four, we clearly have. Let's try and give the oppo more defensive headaches rather than try and play it safe, especially at home.

Yeah it’s nonsense. He wants to win games 1-0 basically.

Fuuuck that. Horrible mindset.

You normally manage a bit more than 5 minutes

I remain optimistic even though we have issues to fix, some of the selections have been forced by injuries and illness

I refuse to let football make me too miserable

I enjoyed the 1st half, the 2nd after the sending off was … disappointing
