Poor game, but you just can't excuse missing the chances we had. Stoke have started the season well. I think games like these tell the manager far more about his team than winning 5-0.
4 games in and the wait for a good performance under Still goes on. No creativity. No pace. No idea how Still is trying to "just win games". I really hope we have been so poor because Still doesn't have players for his way of playing and that we address it in the next week or so.
Obviously we weren’t good enough but the two key points, for me in the second half, was the Johansson save and the Flynn Downes miss. If the THB header isn’t saved, we take the lead, which could have changed the game dynamic. The missed header was a killer though.
Good to see nobody over reacting in this thread. Ipswich fans must be calling for McKenna's head already.
Same problems as last season, the attacking potent of your average under 12s girls team. We need to spend that Dibling money on a proven striker, a winger and someone else apart from Wellington or Manning ( who I thought was dreadful today )
This would raise way more issues. We’ve been relegated since December as everyone kept saying, so why is it now 4 games into the Championship in ****ing August and we haven’t scouted and sorted the players we need? I can excuse maybe needing 1 or 2 in the door but we have brought absolutely nothing new and refreshing, just young blood which was never going to be the lift we needed. How are we starting the season without a proper striker ready to go? It’s inept. I made my peace with the accepting of the relegation on the basis that SR would use all of that time to plan for this season and be ready for it but we still look utterly lost everywhere.
Obviously not seen it back but on first viewing it looked like Baz could have done better with second?
I'd be the first to say we have been crap but silly to blame the manager at this point. If we still get this when he has his own team then fair enough.
Still can count himself lucky we've got 4 points rather than 1 after 2 very poor home performances. Time to ditch the back 3 now. Watford is now a must win as well going into the international break.
It seems obvious, he’s talked about it a lot. Get the ball forward and into the box early. On another day Downes and Stewart would’ve scored and we probably are talking about a narrow win. It is awful to watch and completely stupid wasting the first half of the match by having Armstrong as the striker and playing that way though. You don’t need creativity in the side either, just really fit wing backs who can get up down to deliver. Fernandes would be completely wasted if the plan is to play like we did today for the season
Baz Mads, THB, Jack, Manning Charles, Downes Adarma/Wee Man, Matty, JRob Stewart/Downs/Archer There, we have the players for four at the back, I don't know why he can't see it? The team virtually picks itself atm
I don't think there's any over-reaction, we all knew the Saints shortcomings and the last two wins were just papering over the cracks. Who did we sign to enhance our attacking threat? D.Downs who even though he was on the pitch was hardly involved in the game at all!
As I said, you can see he wants to cross often, but crossing alone isn't a tactic. Genuinely not sure what else he is trying.
I don't think so. It was a good finish across the face of goal into the opposite side netting. Stephens on the other hand...
