Reminds me a bit of the Wrexham game at the moment. Stoke are going like the clappers. Second half subs will be key.
Honestly, l do not see the point of playing Armstrong as a lone striker. Not having a go at Armstrong, he is just not equipped for that role. It's like we have played the first half with 10 players.
He’s good in games like last week where he can harass the defenders, but yeah pointless having him in games like this. His main strength in this role is what he does when we don’t have the ball, and that doesn’t feel like something we should be prioritising in home games
On the plus side, both Stewart and Downs were in conversation with Still & sent out to increase their warmup prior to half time
Weird half for me that. When we click we do look good. Moments of interchange that are impressive and we are making chances, but at same time Stoke look stronger and more tenacious. I would not bet against a red card for Stoke second half and I think they already looked a bit tired as that half ended. Hopefully another good second half at home.
I know everyone is refreshed to hear how Still's style of play is to do whatever it takes to win... but how exactly is he trying to do it? Other than crossing frequently to our 5ft 8 striker, I can't really see what he is trying to do.
We are desperately short of fire-power up front but that's nothing new. AA is a waste of a shirt in that position.
Still very much has us robust defensively, but still lacking the players behind the striker and out wide to link up play. Looking forward to seeing what we're like when he actually plays his preferred back four.
Fernandes seems to trying to do Hollywood stuff when simple passes would be more effective. Impressed by Wood.
