Watford really are trying to kill this game with all their time wasting but it is looking like a defeat at this point for us.
Just got back home. We’d have lost that match last year - what a difference a strong bench can make. Stamenic looked class - can even rugby tackle, you can tell he’s a New Zealander Vipotnik scored a decent goal but on another day, he could have scored 3 Inoussa also missed a sitter. The substitutions changed the game - Sheehan started making them in the 50th minute, a more ruthless Manager would (should?) have started earlier, even in the opening half: they dominated the first half in terms of speed (both action and thought) and effectively stopped us playing - particularly in midfield. Yalcouye looked a ‘dwt’ compared to some of their players, whilst Eom was a shadow of the player that finished last season. Changes were needed desperately and they did the job - Stamenic was as ‘physical’ as the press had suggested and also showed some great close skill. Cullen is not a striker who can lead the line - he was ‘bossed’ by their centre backs and tossed around like a rag doll. It’s not fair on him, he needs to play off a target man
We showed we can play well but it's in spells and not consistent. BUT it's only three games in and hopefully Sheehan can get a grip on things fairly quickly.
A very frustrating game, Watford came here not to play but to waste time as much as possible. To put it bluntly they were bloody crap and made the Swans look bad by their playacting and wasting time. What is clear here is that I’m crap at predicting the scores, and we need a striker in that can finish games like this. We are going to get teams coming here and doing the same hoping to scrape through with a point or three.
