Pretty decent fee for Dibling. Any way good luck and hope you smsh it at Everton and make the club another £15 - £20 million in the future. So, new winger incoming?
Although saying that, until the twat has actually gone (ABK, not Dibling) and its signed and photographed, let's not be too hopeful. We all thought he was out the door last year didn't we
A RB from Brentford? Oooh the excitement might just be too much. Definitely a fair trade for one of the hottest young properties in football. All joking aside it's just a bit **** to constantly lose anyone remotely exciting. We're going to end up with a squad so devoid of any sort of spark and creativity.
He wasn’t going to sign a new contract though. So we got what is, on the face of it, a very good deal. You’ve been complaining that we’re buying unproven youngsters the whole time, so we buy a player with nearly 100 PL games under his belt, and you’re…complaining. Hard to win on this one!
I get the contract issues but how much is the cost of getting back to the PL (and potentially staying there?) We're back to making the same SR shaped mistakes of believing we can uncover hidden gems to replace him, when our recruitment team are appalling. As for the Brentford player, yeah it's a potentially solid acquisition but RBs don't win you games, and it certainly doesn't balance the scales in flogging Dibling and Matty.
We haven’t sold Matty. We don’t know how our new recruitment team have performed yet. The transfer window is still open, and it’s not like we’ve had a chance to spend the Dibling money yet as he’s not even out the door!
I think some people think we're still a club that finishes in the top 8 of the PL with the way they react to transfers. Players always have a price, if someone offers £50 million plus for Fernandes, he'll most likely go as well. This squad needs a complete overhaul and we have a massive drop in revenue coming with parachute payments running out. The football transfer market isn't the same that it was 10 years ago either. Good fee, and good sell on fee. Now it's time to bring in some players.
My only worry about Dibling is with how poorly he settled when he went to Chelsea lasting only a few days before clubs agreed to undo the transfer. I know the few years difference is a fairly big difference in terms of being an adult. Also showed how he was never going to stay at saints.
I will judge SR at the end of the transfer window, but with the selling of the Jack Grealish wannabe for a decent fee seeming like good business I think we're on the right track. He wanted away anyway but we must try and hold on to Matty unless we get a 50m bid ( deffo not 35m otherwise I will be sick ). We've brought in some experience but so far no real sit up and take notice signings. Remove some deadwood from the squad, hold on to Matty and bring some quality in and I think it will be a thumbs up for SR, but saying that it could all change!
