The council are not stupid. They have done some fantastic regeneration works. However the club needs to work with the council positively to come to a sensible solution that meets the needs of all parties. if we extend the south stand now it negates any nimbyism in the future. I’m sure it can be sorted as all parties want to see a successful SAFC and a regenerated city.
Hopefully it will be sorted as we all want the same thing. The club and council are doing fantastic stuff and long may it continue.
I think he probably just realises his level. He can probably have a decent standard of life and a good career in the MLS or while picking up some caps for Greece. No shame in that. I don't think he can do much better.
I thought, having had by all accounts an excellent season with Hibs, that he could’ve done better than MLS. Surely other SPL teams or even Championship ones would’ve been sniffing.
I think the MLS is a decent enough league. I think it's outgrown the Saudi/Chinese joke league status it was a while back and settled as a perfectly acceptable third rate league along with those you mentioned. Don't think it's the career killer some leagues are.
10 years ago we had this squad, this is from FIFA 15, so its the 2014 2015 squad, we finished 16th, thanks to 6 points off Newcastle, we started with Gus and ended up with Dick. We only won 7 games all season but drew 17.
It has five good premier league players, I’d say probably two average/ below average ones and the rest really, really **** for that level except for one very short lived burst of form from Wickham.
Coates went on to have a decent career, played champions league for Sporting SP, he's also a former Liverpool player and played 51 times for Uruguay. Billy Jones, he scored his first goal against the mags, not a world beater, but a grafter.
I count three good premier league players there. One of them sadly was an absolute creep. No wonder that team sank like a stone.
Sunderland AFC confirms that Nectar Triantis has joined Minnesota United for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old moves to Major League Soccer following two years on Wearside, during which time he made five senior appearances in all competitions. Triantis’ time at the Club was predominantly spent on loan in the Scottish Premiership, where he featured for Hibernian on more than 40 occasions during two successful spells at Easter Road. Kristjaan Speakman said: “Nectar’s experienced regular first-team football throughout the past 18 months and improved significantly. He understands the value of continuing to play regularly at a senior level, and in Minnesota United, he’s joining an interesting project in a new country. Now, it’s up to Nectar to once again take the opportunity ahead of him and progress, and we all wish him well in the next chapter of his career.” Good luck, Nectar!
Coates was very good for a while under Advocaat. Jones was ****, a free from WBA if I remember right.
I’d say that the one you refer too, Defoe, Larsson, PVA and O’Shea were good or at least good enough.
Liked PVA and obviously Defoe is a premier League great. Thought Larsson and O'Shea were poor and mainstays in a team of perennial relegation candidates. Large parts in that team. Didn't rate them at all at the time and I like them less as time goes by.
