    Aye
And it came with a lot of strings which meant that some local companies weren’t eligible, but places like Iron Lilies were.

Only went in once but didn’t eat anything and I had a free bar so my view might not be representative…even if I could remember it!

Add that to the £250k grant given to Papa's fish and chip people to open a franchise of Wendys on Jameson Street and that is one million pound handed out to two businesses. Unbelievable. I was in retail for over 30 years in this city, 12 of them in the city centre and all I got from the council was hassle. It must be who you know, I knew plenty but obviously all the wrong people.

The foreign Manchester based bloke who owns the Portland Hotel on Paragon Street obtained over a million pounds in bounce back loans after Covid for 12 businesses 'operating' from those premises. The whole building only cost him £400k.
The history of that place since he bought it makes your eyes water, it has been used as a cash cow and nothing more. Now there is another application in for a massive grant to turn it into HMO's.

Some Councillors and police are kicking against the HMO. The police said there will be violence inside that they'll have to deal with.

One out of four, I did know Francis Daly the man who brought the Manxman and one of the Humber Ferries to Hull and the man behind Waterfront Hotel and who refurbished some of the finest houses down the Avenue, he was driven out of the city by HCC, allegedly. They opposed everything he did.

Christie? Not you too, Rico often tells me that about Daly, although I agree that they shafted him. :emoticon-0138-think
