I thought their last offer was £40m + £5m in add ons and we wanted £45m + 5m in add ons. So don’t know how you could call that a significant reduction in our asking price.
I'm happy with £42m. Especially if the sell on is indeed a full 20% of whatever Everton sell him for, rather than just 20% of whatever profit they make.
And I suppose we can't totally rule out someone like Spurs or Palace making a last ditch bid which tops Everton's. So it's Everton's offer (which I'm fine with) or better.
Yeah I bet a £45m+ bid is starting to look a lot more reasonable to a few clubs as we edge closer to the window closing and as they miss out on other targets. That said, be pleased to just get this over with too.
Happy with the fee at this point, if he does double in price and go for £80mill+ in next 5 years then £16millon upwards on top ain’t half bad either!! Let’s hope he tears it up & good luck to him, bags of potential we have all seen & means we can finally get our incomings sorted!!
It is ab excellent fee. If we retain him fir the season, I would expect him to go for substantially less. A good deal for Saints.
Can't complain too much as it is all clear profit plus we have JRob emerging too. Personally I think he's making a mistake but good luck to the kid.
I hope he is amazing for Everton so we get more money, otherwise, couldn’t care less how his career progresses from there.
Happy with that. Imagine we instigated the next contact as we want to get things done and move on with some deals ourselves. Seems sensible.
I’m with you, wish him well but fear he’s going to regret not staying with us for another year. I also hope he discovers that his agent is not as wise as he ought to be and find better advice. Difficult for someone like him, the lure is so obvious but not always the right path.
We just bought someone with nearly 100 PL games under his belt. Thought you might be happy with that!?
