BBC Howe '100% wants to see Isak back in Newcastle shirt' Asked if he has been speaking to Alexander Isak, Howe said: "When I see him we speak as normal, there are no issues between us. "When we see each other we are fine." Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak: "My preference for these things it that it doesn't happen publicly. Everything is better dealt with behind closed doors but in this situation, needs must and in this situation the club has spoken and justifiably so in that moment." On whether he can return to the squad: "Of course [I want him to], he is contracted to us and he is our player. My wish is that he will be playing with us on Monday and 100% I want to see him back in a Newcastle shirt." Asked how the rest of the squad feel about the Alexander Isak sitation, Eddie Howe said: "I have no doubt about how the players will feel. They will feel same way I do. Alex is a fantastic player, he's a good person, a good character and a good lad. "If Alex wanted to come back and play for us the players would welcome him."
Great from Eddie, so good to hear him just talk like a human and not clam up. Imagine Arteta being asked the same stuff!
Eddie Howe on Jacob Ramsey: "He will be available, of course we still have training sessions to go but he's been really impressive in his first few days. He's intelligent and he will add a lot to the team and I think he has a lot of standout qualities."
Well here are my predictions for the end of the window: Jackson goes to Villa - loan with option to buy Wissa stays at Brentford even after we up bid to £40M+ 5M We get JSL for £60m We sell Isak to Liverpool for £130m+ add ons. Outcome - we have been well and truly shafted and if the above plays out, heads should roll.
yeah but he's old. I want Jackson - Wissa - JSL as an order preference. I hope they have something up their sleeve but I just dont think they have. 2nd game and going in without a striker. it just embarrassing at this moment and we are chucking points away. Again its just insane how **** we are at this transfer business
Imagine if Isak trains all weekend with the squad and he's in the team come Monday! EH has my complete trust and if he puts him back in the team then he's given it a lot of thought and discussions and what not will have already happened behind the scenes and the rest of the squad will also support EH's decision. Be fooking hilarious if he bags a goal and lifts his shirt up to reveal a t-shirt underneath with this on it !
Good stuff from Howe as usual. The only thing from that presser - Conversations at the end of last season. Sounds like Isak did say that he wanted to leave....
Eddie confirmed talks with Isak last season (again I know Hope is a prick, but he was right on this) including chat about his future. He has reiterated there’s two sides to a story somewhat in defence of the player. Adam Clery on YouTube has a good video about it where he spells out very simply that all of the noise is about money, whether that’s Newcastle getting more, Liverpool paying less all the way down to the player, agency and even journalists/publications. It seems again straightforward - player wanted to challenge for UCL, we’ve probably said “look you’re vital to us and we can’t sell you cheap, but if someone comes in with an offer and we can find a replacement, we’ll see”. Liverpool low balled and took Ekitike, which is the crux of the issue. We somehow then failed with Sesko, and scouting shortfalls means there’s not a lot else to look at. Personally still feel that Jackson and Larsen with Isak sold is a great outcome.
Hope Howe gives one of his famous speeches to the players similar to the Man U speech https://www.tiktok.com/@nufccentre/video/7404925257544469793 "Lets ****ing give it to them"
From Howe: “He won't be part of the squad this weekend (Monday). The club has to act in the best interests of Newcastle United. It will do that in every situation. It looks like it is coming to an end, or it will come to an end pretty quickly." Finally getting at least one striker??
Ultimately, Isak still should not have refused to train/ play. He should have put a transfer request in and the club should have signed a replacement. It's messy now and it's not going to end well.
Eddie Howe on if Isak can rebuild his relationship with the fans: "I believe he can. I believe the supporters will always react on how a player plays and what he gives to the team. There are always two sides to every story. "There is always more than even I will now as there are conversations that have taken place away from my understanding of it and I've been away on pre-season and have become detached from the situation. "My job now is to support Alex, care for him and see where we are in a weeks time"
I hope we turn up Monday under a hostile atmosphere and snap the **** out of them. Take Ekitike, Wirtz and Van Dijk out.
Think we'll just get turned over, more than likely pick up a red card. The gap between the sides was already big - they then added Ekitike, Wirtz, Kerkez, we added Ramsdale, Thiaw, Elanga, Ramsey and lost Isak so the gap is wider today than it was last season. Foolish to go into this game thinking a heated atmosphere is enough.
