One of the reasons why I was so frustrated about this Eze deal was because it was the easiest slam-dunk for us. There wasn't loads of competition, he's a quality player and he's boyhood Arsenal supporter. Therefore, he would have come to us if we'd formalised our interest. But we never seemed to after having initial talks back in June. So the fact Spurs had seemingly had a free run at a player that we should have been signing too was extremely frustrating. But now we're moving for him (and he's willing to join us thus rendering all of Spurs' hard work for the past 2 weeks useless), it couldn't have happened in a better way. It does irk me a bit that this is only happening because of Havertz's injury. It shouldn't have taken Havertz getting injured for us to move for Eze, as we needed him regardless. But now that it's (seemingly) getting done, I am happy. I don't think it's a like-for-like replacement. I think Gyokeres, Trossard (as a false 9) and Merino will be out backup CF options for now. Eze will be playing on the left or as a 10. He's a multifunctional player, so that's another reason why he's useful.
Eze is top quality and he can step it up another level at Arsenal too Love the way Spurs fans thought he was going to them, until we came back in and Arsenal fan Eze was like ‘Nah **** that, I’m going to Arsenal’ I mean, who wouldn’t ?
Ok I see where you are going with this. Crosses - we sling lots in, most of them are **** and the good ones are met by nobody because nobody is there. Havertz - he isn't there to get on the end of the crosses which is a big deal, however he provides plenty with his build up play and late entering of the box. Gyokeres - expected to benefit from the decent crosses that we sling in to the box because he will be there to get on the end of them plus his running into channels gives us another option other than pass teams to death. Thats my summary.
This Eze movement has been mad, nothing on it for a while then it goes ballistic. If this signing is confirmed surely this will be the best ever transfer window in the Premier League era for us ??
Eze is quality. Plus he's a Gooner Also this transfer has massive ****housery about it seeing as Spurs had agreed terms with the player and Palace and it looked nailed on they'd sign him
Ornstein basically said all the leg worked with the player had been done already. (Wages agreed etc..) Arsenal just wanted to sell before bringing anyone else in. But the Havertz injury just pushed Arsenal into making the bid early.

I expect we will see Eze get games as a false 9 if the Havertz injury is a long one.. The guy plays as both a 10 or a LWF - so the role might actually suit him.
in terms of outgoings: Porto still in negotiations with Arsenal for Jakub Kiwior. They had a £23.3m package rejected (rightfully so). They're now reportedly working on a loan + obligation to buy for €35m. Werder Bremen are about to make a bid for goalkeeper Karl Hein. PAOK enquired about Sambi Lokonga, but they didn't follow up their interest. Zinchenko was wanted by Fenerbahce, but now talks have cooled. He's also been offered to Real Betis, but his wages are the biggest stumbling block for potential suitors. I have a feeling a lot of the outgoings will happen closer to deadline day is my theory.
The Tottenham tears are making this signing all the more amazing. Talksport this morning was hilarious.
If Eze signs it's epic **** housery. Its worth the money just to see the Spurs meltdown. It's almost as good as Sol Campbell moving to the better side of North London.
A lot of people saying Eze won’t be on Saturday. I think maybe he will as a sub. He’s already fit and played for Palace last week. He’ll need a bit of time to be told his role and fit in with the other players/tactics, but if the circumstances are right in Saturday, maybe he will be in the squad.
I think it might be a bit soon. Medical today, unveiling later and then straight into the squad for Saturday ? Maybe. I think it's more likely we'll see him feature against Liverpool at Anfield. Straight in at the deep end either way
Hoping we get good news on the Havertz injury front now. According to Bild, the striker has ‘problems with the cartilage and loose bodies in his knee’. I know a fair amount about these injuries having had the surgery myself and having coached a few people through the physio. If the Meniscus (cartilage) needs repair that's 8-10 weeks, If they just need to clean up lose fragments that's 3-4 weeks and if they need to surgically remove a piece that's 4-6 weeks (bucket handle tear). The truth is though many players are having Meniscus surgery but the evidence doesn't suggest it's actually the better route. (A surgeon will nearly always suggest surgery.) I have 20 years of Judo and 12 years of Brazilian Jiujitsu wear and tear - and the knee I had surgery on is less good than the knee I just rehabbed myself. (both the same injury) Anyways if Bild is correct we're looking at 1-4 months, which I guess is considerably better than an ACL/PCL injury.
