Chilling while Mrs luv gets ready. Got a beer and some good tunes.

She'll take about an hour and I'll be 10 minutes.

Off to some traditional taverna in an old village nearby.

Breakfast is one of those very common buffet style affairs but lots of nice extras like really good coffee that can be ordered via the waiters and no pathetic attempt to appease the Brits with some **** version of a full English.

Yes that was what we did yesterday, didn't like Corfu town. Some nice places in the backstreets to eat but overall not for me.

    4.80 euros each way.

Wasps. ****ing loads of them. We've adjusted quite well from day one. 1 or 2 bother you on your sunbed but that's okay. You can't eat outside though unless you're a bit mental which lots of people are. For example if you eat by there pool bar or outside in the restaurant in the daytime you'll have 5 or 6 swarming around your head and in your food.

We have breakfast inside, lunch is room service and then evening meal after 8 when they have all gone. Worked out well as it could have spoiled the holiday completely.

Apparently August and September are the worst months for them, due to being the fruit harvest season and it being their peak activity period. Supposedly Corfiot wasps are not as aggressive as our wasps, not that I would want to find out.

The trick is the smell of burnt greek coffee, sunscreens and aftershave will attract them. Try and just don't tell anyone, and you can say they don't bother me for some reason. <whistle>

    AI Overview

Yes, placing a small amount of ground Greek coffee in a saucer or on a piece of foil and burning it is a traditional, effective method used in Corfu and other parts of Greece to repel wasps. The smoke from the smoldering coffee grounds is a potent deterrent that wasps dislike, though it is important to use fresh, finely ground coffee for the best results.

I can confirm that the coffee deterrent is complete bollox, I think it's so that it seems like they are doing something to help the guests. Loads of little burning trays of the stuff everywhere with wasps flying about in the smoke.

Your comment about aggression seeks correct though, the staff just ignore them even if there are 5 or 6 flying about them as they serve food and one said to us that they won't sting.

It's just built into us as Brits with our wasps that do sting and often that they are to be avoided.
