It seems that there might be some movement on this player before the Orient game....wow small miracle there then.
INCOMING. Alex Mitchell...6ft 3in Defender....season loan from Charlton.....turned out for Bromley for nine games....plus others. Played for Charlton in their promotion year.....obviously they have strengthened the Championship season team.
Sam Cosgrove (26yrs old) has gone all the way to New Zealand to find a club.....he has signed for Auckland FC. Did we not consider him again.....he scored two late goals for us including the winner (90mins) against Sheffield W. Surely he isn't earning more at Auckland than we would have paid him ?
We have been blessed in recent years to have a financially well run club. Simon Hallett has sorted out the financial side until now with his own personel wealth.....but it is well known that he has been seeking extra finance for at least the last year.....He wants to maintain control and guide the club in the direction he believes it should go......the trouble is that he is finding it hard to attract finance under his terms...so that he still has complete control of Argyle's future direction.....it is understandable that anyone helping to finance the club would want a say of how the club goes forward and not be just a junior partner.....so that brings a problem. During 2025 there have been stirrings within the club management and a large amount of the backroom staff have moved on....people we have depended on to run things efficiently....some have moved to better situations but others have just moved on......leaving a void behind that has not been well replaced. Relegation kicked-in...and caused a mass exodus of playing staff.....a total of 19....which probably include loanees returning to their mother clubs......in the early weeks of preseason we saw players coming in quickly....none really that replaced lost quality.....and then started a long period of nothing happening.....we knew that the spine of the team had been ripped out...but replacing it became a disappointing and difficult period of concern. We are 4 games into the season and only one defender has arrived and he played in the Leyton O game.....so 4 games 4 defeats no points and 23rd in the league.....and minus 6 goals...at 3-9 scored. The green army had until last night been behind the team....but losing to a very ordinary Orient...and before a poor Lincoln has now got more of an hostile response and they want questions answered....and the concern is that there is something going on at PAFC that they don't know about.......all building bricks achieved under Hallett seem to be tumbling down......how much longer will things spiral downwards.....and when will we get our first point.....and will we ever get our No9 shirt worn. Tom Cleverley is young and inexperienced and my concern is that he is not the right sort of leader to see us successfully through this difficult period....and the backroom staff are all rather knew and also lack experience to help him through this awkward period. On paper these players should be able to hold there own in Div One......but they turn into a shambles when things go wrong......and there is a lot of that happening at the moment....so we moved on to Blackpool at home on Saturday....will things get better or worse.
Just 3 of the starting 11 and 5 of the 18 were part of the senior squad that finished last year. And it looked like it. Many misplaced passes, some seriously so being played carelessly back towards the defensive end, and I thought a lack of shape. I appreciate the top teams have players moving all over the pitch with FB's turning up in the CF position and so on but we aren't ready to do that. At least while understanding between the players grows, it would be helpful if most of the time players stayed in traditional slots. The CF runs from the centre circle to the penalty spot. The CB's stay within the width of the penalty box up to the half-way line. The DM's play 10 or 15 yards in front of the CB's. Et cetera, et cetrera. Then we might have a chance of making passes.

There's been quite a big revamp of the Argyle website. Some will scoff I know and I'm sure make the point the money should be spent on players but it's much tidier. Ticketing and the club shop are are accessible more directly than they were before. There's a big section on the Brickfields development https://www.pafc.co.uk/brickfields-development which doesn't get enough coverage. Again, there will be some and perhaps many who say the money should be spent on players but this is an important strategic investment, which among other things is intended to produce a stream of young players who aren't at risk of predation by Premier League clubs and the like.
