I truly believe they wanted him in the PL and they see us as essentially ‘preparing’ him for Chelsea. That’s no bad thing, we’d still call the shots in terms of sale value. He was the jewel in the Strasbourg crown and Chelsea group know that.
None of the sales count against this years accounts. Maybe Ekwah on a technicality. Still great business but we could do with chipping away at the transfer cost for this season.
I didn't make it home until after MOTD so missed the Shearer nonsense. The whole show was all very unprofessional and shoddy imo. Apart from Shearer clearing twisting his face the worst thing, for me, was the amount of time given to Isak who wasn't even playing. It's supposed to be a round up of the matches, not 'Transfer Saga of the Year'. There was absolutely no news whatsoever, just Shearer repeating what everyone knew and giving his lecture. WTF did any of that have to do with the games ... ... is Shearer setting the agenda now or can we get on with watching the footy? Moan ends ... please continue with the transfer rumours
Fair enough, I'd still suggest we arent in any way shape or form in huge debt from transfer dealings this summer
Any club winning promotion at Wembley, with a team that cost less than Tommy Watson is clearly solvent … … I rarely use the word but anyone who can’t grasp that is thick.
I'd reckon they will mostly have release clause. Maybe not the three older guys, but probably all the younguns. There may also be some "spoken agreements" between player and club and contrary to some of today's prevailing wisdom, these things do occur. We've had a couple of them, and we've honoured them. Something a certain other lot might consider doing.
Nah we'll be fine. We absolutely shouldn't spend all we can possibly spend this year, though, as that is artificially inflated by the sales in the last accounts. We need this to be a number that we can live with in 26/27 and beyond. I'm sure we will make sales along the way but it would be bad for us if we are forced to sell either to allow new signings or (worse) to stay inside the rules. You can't bank on sales as a necessity in your business plan as they are not always reliable - either in size or in timing. If the worst came to the worst I think we'd be in a bit of a spot, personally. I think the standard of player we've brought in would all see themselves as being above the championship so we'd see a debilitating churn in the squad. I have no doubt that we'd be okay financially, but our chances of an immediate return would be diminished. Thankfully I'm feeling relatively confident that we won't have to find out!
Totally normal Luke Edwards things. He's been basically offering out people on twitter all last night. Absolute melon that lad. I'd be taking his credentials off him at the SoL in case he threatens any staff, the absolute danger
And that's the conundrum isn't it. IMO it's pointless, and defeatist, to bring in a standard of player who'd be happy to drop down to the Championship ... ... Burnley's entire philosophy seems to be based on that concept. However they probably know it's pointless, to try too hard, because they're little better than Preston or Wigan in reality. They had Dyche defying the odds but they're more likely to go down every season than stay up ... ... then they'll get it wrong, one Championship season, and fail to go back up.. After that the nerves will set in as they're now doing with Sheff Utd.
Is he implying the Saudis should go after Liverpool's owners and lop their heads off / chuck them off a building? What a weird tweet.
If that was a post on here or RTG it would be deleted along with a possible ban ... ... whatever the case it should be rightly ridiculed whoever he said it to.
