Jobe was the only one we paid money for as well. Pretty sure Ekwah was free with a sell on clause and obviously Tommy was an academy graduate.
Yeah was finally announced last week kind of slipped out quietly. In response to previous, I’d wager pretty much every addon is ‘if we stay up’. It’s chicken feed the addons of we do.
We seem to sign players with versatility and I'd expect us to be looking at a RW who can either play in the 10 or up front as a secondary position to give us options. I've not seen enough of Fatawu to know if he's capable of that. Trincao will be expensive. Probably £40m too and he's rumoured to have just turned down Saudi.
Done my best effort at working out where we truly are with spends. Some variation in the negative column for signing on fees for Reineldo, Masuaku etc, I’ve added £2million which is likely over. £160,000,000 out including addons.£49,000,000 in. First number is ‘initial payments’ The £160 million includes addons and £2million estimated signing on fees for the free transfers. Diarra £27,000,000 so £3million off Sadiki £17,000,000 so £3million off. Talbi £18,000,000 so £2.5million off. Adingra £21 million so £3million off. Xhaka £13 million so £4million off. Mukiele £9.5 million so £2.5million off. £18 million add ons. Couldn’t find add on data for Roefs. So £111 million minus £18 million is £93 million, bit less with Roefs structure but add a bit for sell on to West Ham for Pierre and Brum for Jobe. £90 million net or so. It’s actually such superb business. It isn’t unrealistic to think Diarra. Sadiki or even our Riggy could wipe the mouth of most of that in a year. Transfermarket have squad value at £261 million but they are based on ‘perceived worth’ which is far less than selling fees, example being Big Dan listed at £8million, we’d expect 2 or 3 times that. The work of Speakman, KLD, the scouting and Ghosolfi is absolutely stunning. At full whack we’ve spend about £180million in 4 years, have a squad worth not a million miles from double that, and that’s before we factor in £65million or so in sales (including Jacky). It really is ‘wow’. These numbers make it utterly plausible we could spend another £60-80million.
Sunderland are not giving up on Jhon Lucumí , the Bologna defender whose transfer the Rossoblu have (so far) never opened up about. According to TMW , the English club is planning a new bid for the Colombian centre-back, born in 1998. The details. The Premier League club's new offer is expected to exceed the €28 million stipulated in the release clause—which, however, cannot be activated because it expired on July 10—in the contract that ties Lucumí to Bologna until June 30, 2027 (given that the Emilian club has activated a unilateral option for a further year). It remains to be seen whether this new offensive will change Bologna's minds: after having already sold Beukema to Napoli, the Rossoblu consider Lucumi unsellable. However, there's also a very complicated contract renewal in the background, and an offer better than previous attempts could even push the club to change their minds. https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/ser...a-per-lucumi-in-arrivo-nuovo-rilancio-2136492
When I think about the last game of the season 24/25 against Sheff Wed… think of that team… and how they played, against what we are watching now… just know I’m gonna wake up soon and see we’re playing Oxford this weekend
Total Spend £158million? Total against this years accounts - £47.5million ish Income - Watson - £10million - £10million in this years accounts Jobe - £30 million - £10 million in this years accounts? Ekwah - £5million - £2.5million in this years accounts? Total Income - £45million Total in this years accounts - £22.5million Net Spend so far - £113million Net spend in the accounts for this year £25million Even if you said wages have gone up to 100 million per year (30 players on around 75k per week) the tv money more than covers it Absolutely brilliant business from the club
I've no idea whether these figures are right or not....I'm happy to take your assessment of it. I wholeheartedly agree that the work of KS, FG ,Stuart Harvey and his team....backed by KLD in facilitating it...is absolutely stunning! Together with our stadium, facilities, training ground and fan support....we must be the envy of many other clubs up and down the land. Even more so if we can put it together on the pitch.
If we let ourselves get carried away and speculate. Diarra could go for £65million Sadiki could go for £50 million Mayenda, Talbi, Adingra could easily do £40 million each. Roefs probably worth double already after a solid debut. Theres £250million if they have good seasons from 6 players. Speculative? Yes Unrealistic? No.
Yeah I just did as ‘full fees’ the fact that we divide those by 4-5 for PSR just makes it even more in our favour.
Aye, I mean the numbers aren’t gonna be 100% mate. Facts are we haven’t doubled £160million right now as all the press report it. Likely a 3rd of that goes in this season numbers, and we haven’t even discussed increased ticket and kit sales, multiple new commercial deals, increased corporate seating etc. We haven’t gone ‘Viva Las Vegas’ like the folk on social media posts suggest. We ain’t risking the clubs life here.
Also to consider, you "might" have had to insert a release fee clause in order to persuade some to join, you just never know. Either way, some great work in the transfer market, that cannot be denied
Not sure if you are factoring in to this whether its if we stay up or go down. But I have every belief that Noah Sadiki can go for a lot more than 50 million the lad is mustard
Absolutely no question there’ll be relegation clauses, they will be at least break even though, and likely above break even. In that worst case scenario we get the money back and the PL money covers the increased wages. The larger commercial deals remain a factor.
Aye I feeling was deliberately conservative. Diarra for example I strongly believe ‘Chelsea group’ will be back for in a year or 2, and Caicedo was £115million.
This whole thing seems a bit odd to me. We apparently waited fornhsi buyout clause to expire, on the basis that if noone offered it (which they didn't) then they would have to sell for less. But we're now apparently offering more money? I know it will be structured differently (clause would have been 100% up front) but I'm sure we will still be paying the vast majority as a lump sum, not sure it's been worth all the hassle just to pay slightly less up front but more in the long run... What's also odd is, Bologna are apparently insistent they don't want to sell. Yet, it sounds like the player is keen which implies we have spoken to him... which means they must have given us permission to do so...... which means they are clearly open to selling? Whole thing's very confusing lol
It's funny watching clubs like Leeds twisting about us spending money when they mortgaged future gate receipts chasing trophies and failed ... ... their supporters were lording it over everyone and backing Risdale to the hilt. Now Sunderland are spending their own money they really can't cope with it.
Diarra looks like he can go right to the very top, to me. Going on very little so far, of course. But I can't believe the Chelsea group let him go...
Aye not so much the Leeds lad as his points are pretty fair, but some of the ****e I’ve seen on socials from other clubs fans and us ‘risking it all’ and ‘how can they do that’ it’s all bollocks. We didn’t start with a PL size wage bill like Leeds and Burnley, and we’d spend about 34p in previous 4 year.
