Will write up my top three tomorrow, it's not an easy choice either...but I strongly suspect this young man may be in it...

    WOW - need I say more ?
The whole of the team deserve to be No.1 in this thread...... Fantastic performance / commitment - but - if I am to give my choices :
    1. Andrews - what a nuisance he was ( to the Chesterfield defence.) ... beginning to have the effect upfront that we've missed for a long time- and others around him are profiting.
    2. Little - played with much passion - and took the penalties very well.
    3. Gale - took a big knock early on - but played through the pain... He was literally everywhere.... In the 93rd minute, with Gills leading 4-1, Gale went on a run upfield..when he lost the ball, he bust a gut to sprint back into his position in defence........... I can't believe that Gale will be a Gills player for much longer - let's hope it will be very good money !

special mention to the effort by the scoreboard in the Medway Stand - I think it couldn't understand what was going on - and had a 'premature' moment.... when it depicted 4-1 after Cirino scored his goal.

special mention for Cirino - one of the best debut performances I have seen --- how I haven't put him in my top 3 is ridiculous - especially as he is likely to have already won the goal-of-the-season .

And for all of the squad who took part - a sincere thankyou...................can I ask for more of the same in the rest of the games this season.

Phenomenal performance from the lads last night. Hard to think that barring Smith & Cirino, the rest of that starting lineup was the same bunch of players we all believed didn't care 8 months ago. What a turnaround in their attitudes and commitments and I believe that's solely down to Ainsworth. We're always in a game now, heads no longer drop and they fight, boy do they fight til the bitter end. Really proud of that performance, every man could easily have for Man of the Match last night. My top 3 could be replaced by anyone frankly.

    1. Sam Gale. Deployed to keep Markanday quiet and what a job he did at it. That boy puts his body on the line time and time again for the cause. I echo what @alwaysright has said we will struggle to keep hold of this lad for much longer.
    2. Robbie McKenzie. Let's not forget that our own Mr Consistent/Mr Versatile is playing in a position that isn't his best but he kept Will Grigg so quiet last night which is never an easy task. In the last 12 months he's shown a real maturity about his game now and the fact he just gets on and provides a good performance regardless of where on the pitch he's played. Excellent.
    3. Josh Andrews. Once again not afraid to get himself in the fight, he left everything out there last night. Probably should have been withdrawn about 10 mins earlier but he battled so hard and eventually wore down the Chesterfield defence to our advantage. Finally getting the player we thought we had bought in January 2024.

Armani Little gave a true captain's performance and tucked those penalties away nicely. Ethan Coleman playing with a chunk of his head missing still flying into tackles and going for headers. Andy Smith was also excellent at the back. Congratulations to Lenni on a well taken goal on his EFL debut. The subs all put in a great effort, I was particularly impressed with how Khumbeni won the ball back to set up Wyllie to score, the latter of which I'm also pleased he got off the mark in the league.

Wow, just wow, excellent commitment boys. Now top of the table on Saturday. 16 matches unbeaten leaves us as the longest unbeaten run in the 92.
