Stadium and training ground sponsor. Also training kit. Three revenue streams that could be lucrative. Btw - Liverpool were never serious about signing Isak. They've done what they did with Gordon last summer.
The difference is Gordon got on with it. I know his form was affected but yes theory is that Liverpool were never interested. That they just wanted to unsettle the player. They put in a bid which they know was well below what was required.
I said this to my father in law two weeks ago, they've got history for this sort of **** that dates back way past last summer though mate:- https://www.skysports.com/football/news/2232956/reds-and-ziege-fined-over-illegal-approach I wonder what other "options" Isak is exploring cos this one seems to be the only one (if it even exists). Is he sat there wondering why Real Madrid, Barca and PSG etc aren't sniffing around him and just biding his time hoping something's gonna come in before the window shuts?
So according to Romano Isak has again reiterated that he never wants to play for us again and only wants Liverpool. I say he needs them. Because no one else wants him. I even question if Liverpool still want him?
My take is that Liverpool have deliberately unsettled him. Only 5 weeks ago [when we signed Elanga] he was loving the unveiling of his mate in a Newcastle shirt. Not the actions of someone only forcing a move because they are "unhappy." Liverpool used their media stooges to create a narrative that Isak was pushing to leave and "only" wanted Liverpool. Liverpool then respond with a low ball bid knowing it will be expected. Why? To make it look like they are serious to their own fans given the narrative. When rejected, they say it was "emphatic" and will not go back unless there is encouragement from NUFC - knowing full well that will never ever happen. What is the response? Newcastle fans turn on Isak making a way back almost impossible and in turn weakening a future rival. This whole saga stinks. There is something not right. It just does not add up. I may be spectacularly wrong of course.
While almost destroying Isaks career because he will always be seen as that player who downed tools. His agent has royally ****ed things up for him. The only option he has is Liverpool do come back with 150m (unlikely but possible) or someone like Man City or Bayern get a major injury to a Haaland or Kane and decide he’s the answer.
*Should be lucrative - the only reason I can think we don't have it yet is we have tried and been denied and waiting for APT2 to be sorted. £15m p/a for Arsenals training ground sponsorship, £50m p/a for their stadium naming rights from Emirates. - That's £65m a year for Arsenal we don't have, even if we only got £40-50m a year that'd still be another decent signing coming in each year.
Yup. My guess is that we want someone like Saudia to sponsor the stadium and has been blocked due to APT.
Yep! They probablysent the request in ages ago. If they take a smaller one and are tied down that would kill any backdated potential claim.
Saudia sponsor the stadium for say £40 million per season. Aramco - training ground/ kit - £20 million per season. Get that and our revenue takes us onto the next level. Competing for 2nd/ 3rd. Then we just need that extra boost from consistently finishing there and CL to get the streams to allow us to challenge for titles.
I would love to see where Isak has actually said he will never play for us again. Its a remarkably stupid thing to say as it doesn't do him any favours at all. It means if he stays he suffers a complete loss of face. If had just kept quiet or said he was flattered by the approach, Liverpool may well have increased their bid and Newcastle would have probably sold.
Yeah that is what I don't get. He has never been quoted as saying that publically. If you look at his Instagram he has not removed photos of himself in an NUFC shirt or disassociated himself from the club a la Wissa. It's odd. That is not the actions of someone striking to force a move and saying he'll never play for NUFC again.
I think he wants to go. He doesnt seem stupid though and saying he will never play for us again means that Liverpool will be reluctant to increase their initial bid, thinking we need to sell him now. I actually don't think they are too bothered about getting him now. Could be very interesting next week.
