Clear pen that. Not sure why this is taking so long. Tarkowski just leans into the ball and blocks it with his arm.
indeed, the fact that his arm is by his side is irrelevant - he's leaning on a 45-degree angle to block the shot. It's not as if he can't get out of the way of it.
Weird hearing people talk about well his arm was by his side, nothing in rules that say if you lean it’s a pen. 100% agree… but if you move your body and therefore move your arm towards the ball and block a shot with your arm, then it’s clearly a penalty. If he doesn’t lean, he doesn’t block it therefor he moved his arm towards the ball. Not difficult to understand.
The fantastic goal the other night aside, I'm still not 100% sure Chiesa is really good enough for Liverpool... but I always get the impression he's one of the nicest people at Liverpool. He's always smiling and so pleasant.... He just gives off the vibes of a really nice humble guy.
Annoying really, I'm seeing headlines like 'controversial penalty' & 'bizarre penalty' which people would just skim over and think 'another shocking decision' which just isn't true. You don't get to use your arm as long as it is by your side . Blatant penalty.
Guys its tarkowski. The guy is cheating at football all day every day if he's not cheating he is asleep dreaming of cheating. That's his way like Johnny Evans. The guy somehow has gotten away with so many red cards its unreal. He knows exactly what he is doing there. He's deliberately got his arms down but is putting the body in to block using the arm in that position. If I were a ref I'd only need see who did it to know Same with jeolinton. Gets away with absolute murder for for too long when a quick early yellow would put him on the back foot.
The thing about putting the goal aside is - if he can be brought on to score a winner, and we know that's what he's capable of, he's worth keeping just for that.
Just has to be able to run rather than look like he is running through treacle. If he can get that back in his game then he can deliver something. He is certainly intelligent enough to fill in in multiple positions and has the skill to make a pass or shoot or dribble but its all negated by not being able to get about the pitch. You will be eaten alive by agressive players who can beat you to the ball
He's had a tough time of it and is trying to get back to where he needs to be. He came to us and got 100 minutes last season altogether in the prem... Many a player with his past achievements, and at 27, would have said **** this - get me out of here. He hasn't, continues to just try and get back to the level. Hopefully he does. Moments like Friday can really help too.
Yeah, if any Italian side would actually pay 10mil then he would have a choice but he's stuck to his work and is there ready fro ehatever comes in so far as he can be. He needs more and more games, just like Joe gomez did after many injuries. He did very well last year when called upon. Until the inevitable.
Now the myth of pickford. I've never rated him on pens. He is a guesser who has a bottle with some stats and just goes whatever way the hunch tells him so a good pen taker waits for him to fall down 10 out of 66 faced. Is it a good record? I dont know. Kelleher is 4 saved out of 6 in non pen shoot outs and won us 4 separate shoot outs as well. I looked this up and fabianski saved 10 out of 49. Bosnian saved 17 out of 72 faced. Mingolet save 8 of 28 This says to me that too much is made of the water bottle amd a guy throwing himself in a direct he thinks a player will hit it in a premeditated fashion. It's just guessing. Others can read a player and dive based on the angle of run up or whatever.
Yes... But it's an "IF". He hasn't really appeared enough to know if that's a fluke or something he is capable of on a regular basis. I suspect Slot has better knowledge of his ability from training than I.
Honestly, if all he did was stand around near the goal and put in a winner, I'd take that. We know his limitations and we know his strengths.
Weird faux outrage online now about the Chiesa song (ignoring that it’s been sung for about 12 months now) and how it’s embarrassing that Liverpool fans would sing it and somehow linking it to heysel disaster
Which is cheating really or at least not in the spirit of the game. Obviously it's still a lottery and not cheating in the same way as pretending to be injured but both are designed to gain an unfair advantage.
What is the context of this? I presume they are taking the line in the song completely out of context of chiesa. However it does show how modern social media faux outrage is created and you have to vet everything
How is a crib sheet cheating in any way? All it says is he hadn't the brains to remember the info. Playing lfc next. Salah blasts it. Stand up and force him to hit it hard, might miss. Macallister. Go to left as he's weak hitting it to that side. Its not like its a cup game on pens where you need 6 or 7 players Also in the modern game the pen taker should also have a brief from the analyst who studied the goalkeeper and know what they are likely to do. Pickfords bottle tells him to dive to your left but he changes this up a few times so your best bet is to hit it here. Salah takes pens each training session and pings a few that way that week. Simple. No unfair advantages here at all. Ita all data analysis now. They all have the info and its how they use it.
Tony Evans wrote an article about the game with some awful takes in there including what he thinks of the Chiesa song. I'm guessing that it's sparked all the usual suspects on social media. It's a disgrace of an article - https://tonyevans92a.substack.com/p/chiesa-song-an-embarrassment-to-anfield
