Right . It will be interesting to see if Seelt stays in for Burnley. If I had to bet I think he might not. The good thing is that Regis and the club don't have 'favorites' and only show loyalty to players to the extent that they think it will help the team win. It's not great watching the playoff winning team sitting on the bench, but that team would have almost certainly got relegated. The new one might not.
Yep not against loans, but these lads will not improve unless they get some senior football. Players will improve in training but as you know better than most, nothing will beat minutes on the pitch to learn and improve
Players i'd look to move on; Blondy - unless he's happy as 4th choice but I don't want him taking up u21 minutes Huggins - loan. I really like him but he needs to play a full, uninterrupted season soon Pembele - sell Alese - loan. Similar to Huggins really. Think he's really low on the depth chart now even if he was fit. Anderson - he's rejected loan moves in past windows, not sure what that says about him but he really needs to be playing football. Browne - think we could get a decent fee from a Championship club Rusyn - will probably be another loan with an option Triantis - promotion came at the wrong time for him Matete - should have a solid EFL career Aleksic - loan. Shown signs of real promise but won't see minutes here at the moment Hemir - not sure what to say Ba - will probably head back to France Abdullahi - a good loan move please Poveda - sorry @Hudson92 Roberts - if Fatawu or another right winger comes in I'd keep Seelt around I think. Thought he was solid enough on Saturday. But can definitely see us loaning him out which i'm not against. Hjelde is an interesting one. We'd have to find a club willing to loan him in while still recovering from surgery. RLB likes him so i'd not be selling him just yet. Could see a loan in January happening. Neil and Cirkin need to sign new deals, otherwise sell unfortunately. Then I look at the u21s. I'd like to see plenty of them get loans. H.Jones in particular could do with a full season of mens football, had a good pre season here.
Agree with most of this, as I said I'm not against selling Alese and Huggins - both hardly played and we don't really know how good/bad they might be yet have been here for years now. Seelt I'd loan if we sign Lucumi, he would be 5th choice CB and another year of zero or little football will massively impact his development imo Hjelde I'd keep till January, make sure he's fully recovered from his injury then can loan him Hope Cirkin and Neil sign new deals I'd try and loan H.Jones out - want to see what he's like playing week in week out at senior football
Would be good to get all that done. Would help with PSR too. However we’d need to be getting Neil and Cirkin signed up. Otherwise we’d be leaning on the likes of Middlemas in order to make the homegrown number.
Rather he played in a more testing league than that personally. Get that it may have been discussed at the time we were signing their GK but I'd rather Seelt got tested in Germany, France, SPL or Championship.
Modern training is so good. Coaches put on incredible sessions and content. If you in a cat1 environment, whether as a youth or a pro, you can guarantee everything between games is geared toward you improving. But, and it is a big but in my opinion, unless you play the game you have prepared for your learning is borderline theoretical. You have to put it into practice to cement the learning. And not really in a 10 minute here and there. You really need to be in the heat of the game. You learn best as a footballer when under extreme matchday pressure. I think if you are hitting 22/23 and are yet to play 100+ senior games you may well always be behind the learning curve, personally. Loans are the best way of doing this now, for those players that arent child prodigies like Rigg. Particularly if you are part of a prem side. We have a very young group who have started in league one learned as we have progressed. Some of out younger lads like Harrison Jones and Trey now probably need to go and find 30 league games this season. The trick is sending them to the right environment. We need them in a pressure environment, so pushing for a promotion, or a newly promoted side would be ideal. But also playing in the right way too. The coach they go to for me is critical. I predict we will have a loans manager soon if we dont already have one.
If Lucumi comes then I think we’ve got Ballard, Seelt, Alderete, Lucumi and O’Nien competing. That feels about right to me. Means loans for Alese and Hjelde if possible. At full back we have Hume, Mukiele, Reinildo, Masuaku, Huggins and Cirkin. I think a loan for Huggins and would be inclined to keep Cirkin if possible but understand if he wanted to go or we feel we need to sell if he’s not renewing. Six is definitely too many though. Diarra, Xhaka, Sadiki, Le Fee, Rigg and Neil is about as good as it gets for a promoted side but I think Neil probably will leave. I’d replace with either Jones or buy a “homegrown” prospect for the 6th spot if necessary. Loans for Jones if Neil stays and we don’t replace him and Aleksic. Browne to go permanently if possible. Talbi, Roberts, Adingra, Mundle is pretty strong but with Mundle out I would sign a forward that can play across the front three. Ideally one that won’t be involved in AFCON. very happy with Roef and Patto. Would let one of Moore or Blondy go. Obviously the lads that haven’t been given squad numbers all need to go. Would give us a really well balanced squad. Two for every position with a spare CB, FB, Winger and Striker.
Love Amad but the fact he's so slightly built gives me concern. Admittedly I know nothing though, just a feeling
Unbeliever ( as in Life of Brian). Should be stoned on here, lol. However I am too of the opinion of Harvey
Not says my ales is better than any of the players you mention right now but I like him a lot and him and O’Nien were great at the start of last season.
I dont dislike him at all. There have been times he looked very good. But with the players around the squad now I think he may be better elsewhere. I come from the old school though where I think footballers should do what they can to play first 11 football week in week out, even if it means dropping a level to do so.
He was too lightweight first time round. People are too sentimental about Amad. Skilful, but built like a butterfly
