Ahadme is a carthorse, Leaburn looks to be a problem with injuries, now Godden is having an operation and out for around six weeks. I hope Kelman and Knibbs hit the ground running and after the first ten games have us outside of the bottom three.
Ahadme scored two quick goals today against Southend- but I fear that is his level and won’t make the step up to the Championship
Our chances of staying up I would put around 60% at present. And I'm being as optimistic as I can. Assuming every other factor was equal we would have an 87.5% chance of staying up (21 teams out of 24 will, that's 7 out of 8) Biggest factor against us: Inexperience at Championship level. This is going to be a really tough season. I fear we may end up looking like Plymouth did last year. Plucky triers, but coming up just short enough to lose too many games. Biggest factors in our favour: Some decent signings (not stellar, but solid). And the NJ factor, as seen in the second half of last season. I thought he had zero chance of doing what he did. If he repeats the feat, we could finish mid-table - mission accomplished Questions are: Can NJ repeat his 2024-25 progress at 2nd tier level? Will he stay for the whole season?
BBC sports pundits predict Charlton will finish 20th this season; https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c5y2g678k6xo I'll take that right now
You won't have to worry about the carthorse now that he's off to Stevenage for a season on loan. Hopefully for the sake of our bank balance he'll bang in the goals and we can sell at the end of this loan.
Good solid start. Our defence got us promoted, and will keep us up. The recruitment has been the best since SCP, and they should improve as they get used to each other, and to the step up. I think there's a good chance of not only staying up, but finishing mid-table.
Still a long way to go, it's only two games, do not get carried away. Crawley home last season and 4 months into the season and fans were going ballistic. Things can change quickly.
Totally agree. Keeping Kayne Ramsay is absolutely vital in my opinion. But I think we will as he has 2 games worth of Championship experience, but he easily looks like he could make the step up again.
