  1. It shouldn't be used every single time a child is bad, or just because you're too lazy to discipline your child in a way that takes some thought and persistence.

But sometimes it is necessary, a child should have a healthy fear of the consequences of misbehaving, and sometimes getting shouted at or losing their TV for a week doesn't work, and the only thing that will work is a clip on the ear, so the kid will learn not to step out of line or they'll get a clip.

I'm not saying I'm the fountain of all knowledge on this subject, or that it will work 100% of the time, but IMO it's better than just saying "that's a naughty boy, no sweets for you",

He obviously didn't bother to watch the video because it sure doesn't look like that's quite what happened. My, oh my, he's such a little innocent in all this. <laugh>

Aye, capital punishment might be a bit of an over reaction on some occasions if the kids have been naughty. <laugh>

The big guy shouldn't have got involved, as others have said the kid would/should have been met at the next station by traffic police. If the conductor had moved on in all probability the kid would have calmed down and the journey could have resumed until the officials dealt with it in the proper manner.

However, it is a generational thing. The big guy looked like he was my generation and twenty/thirty years ago the majority of capable men would have done exactly as he did. What is more during that period the kid would have expected that to happen.

Personally I sympathise with the big guy and would have wanted to do the same (have stepped in twice myself in worse circumstances) but under the current laws (or more importantly the interpretation of them) he was wrong to do so. His actions were in effect assault, as wrong as that seems to me.

Do you actually know what capital punishment is, Tash? It's a bit more than a clip round the ear.

  14. My view on capital punishment is that it shouldn't be done. Not because I don't think we have the right to sentence someone to death, but because it's an easy way out for a criminal.

If they've done something terrible like rape a family and kill them, they should be made to suffer in solitary confinement.

Take what exactly? The kid wasn't doing anything apart from mouthing off a little bit. On the video from what I can hear he didn't insult the conductor once, just sat there and said he didn't intend on getting off. His body language in the vid is totally non-threatening.

There was absolutely no need for the use of force in that instance. Use of force when not needed only antagonises people further and inflames situations, on another day the kid could have reacted badly and people could have easily gotten hurt. If the kid had been in the conductor's face or displayed threatening or aggressive behaviour towards passengers I would have understood the need for such action and agreed with you.

  18. The kid refused to get off and obviously wasn't on the train legally. If you don't have a ticket and the conductor asks you to get off, you should get off, not refuse to do so. We only saw a 30 second clip, if the kid didn't do anything bad then the passengers would have booed or told the big bloke he's a bully and a twat, but the fact that they clapped him suggests that the kid had done something disrespectful and was acting like a twat, and probably deserved to be kicked off the train

He got what he deserved, little ****s think they can do as they please these days. He probably thought " It's only an ticket inspector and he won't do ****al", well somebody did, and the kid will probably think twice before trying skip the train again.

It's like that bully from Austrailia who got put on his arse by the lad he was bullying, the bully came out acting the innocent victim, but in reality, that little **** got what he rightly deserved.. BODYSLAMMED!!!

Why is everybody still ignoring the point here? Next time there may be no big guy to throw him outside, and they're all just going to sit there and wait for ages. Obvious solution is to make it the train line's policy to just drive on to the next station and have police or station security prepared to pick him up there. Eradicates all need for vigilantism and all passenger inconvenience.
