Interesting that Sheff Utd have lost all 3 games this season so far
Were we flattering ourselves last week ?
    Early days I know

We put in a poor performance today and welcomed back our biggest nemesis with a lack of scoring threat even though there were some bad misses on goal. Never being able to follow up a great away win with a win in front of 24,000+ at home against a newly promoted squad in Charlton Athletic was sad and it's one of the many hurdles we have to overcome if we really want to compete. Nobody shone out on the pitch today and Gerhard's comments will be worth a read later to see his thoughts on how we performed. Still unbeaten on the season.

    Charlton frustrated us.
They defended very well - several crucial blocks and pass interceptions.
I was impressed with them when I watched the highlights of their game vs Watford last week. They looked very sharp - and restricted Watford to zero shots on target.
They could have nicked it at the end - but so could we.
To me it looked like we were back to the Manning ‘horseshoe’ tactics.
Not great, but a clean sheet and it’s only game 2.

After the lord mayers show -

A full house expecting a good performance after the fantastic football played at sheff Utd.
City never got going-did not look a threat going forward.
First half we were the better side with no end product-second half Charlton were the slightly better side who deserved the draw.
When you bring on two strikers in the form of Fally and Armstrong it just shows how weak we are without Riis.
Bristol City FC need another quality proven striker before the window shuts-today showed us that clearly.
Try and move on Armstrong-Fally-Cornick at the very least and even Bell if needs be.
Plus point Big Rob Atkinson was immense and he is back to bringing the ball out and getting right into the oppositions defence.
    My MOM followed by Vitek.

I liked what I saw of Fally today, liked the bit when he was telling useless Armstrong to get closer to him. Thought he looks interested again. But if I was second fiddle to Armstrong I would be gutted as well and not been interested. Sell Armstrong if we can get anything I would take it.

Playing as a loan striker in LM’s system was never going to work with Mayulu,it’s not his game, or playing to his strengths, as a part of a two it may, I’d persevere. Armstrong on the other hand has had opportunities and hasn’t taken them, he just doesn’t have a football brain, and couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo.

Charlton's old fashioned long ball game playing for knockdowns negated high press Struberball.
Bloody awful game to watch, I blame R&W. <laugh>

Don’t worry RP - I’m now safely far away in Benalmádena for the next few games, so completely impossible for me to influence things at BS3 - although I WILL be going to Tangeys to watch them on TV….. <laugh>
