He was really solid. Defo prem capable imo. Just need to decide how to develop him best. Would be fine if he is in our squad this season though.

RLB managed the game to a tee... His substitutions were spot on, we have a extraordinary set up at our club these days... fantastic time to be a Sunderland fan

Wow! I'm struggling to put that performance into words. I'm not sure I expected to dominate a game of football in this league all season, let alone the opening day.

Every player was magnificent. Roefs looked very assured in goal, he's great with the ball at his feet and his save was superb. Xhaka, Sadiki and Diarra were all excellent in midfield and compliment each other so well. Diarra's driving run with the ball was the first glimpse of a huge talent imo. Sadiki was industrious and Xhaka the calmest of all heads. Adingra and Talbi both grew into the game as it went on. Mayenda wasn't in the game... Until he was and my word, that header was sublime. The biggest shout outs have to go to the back 4 though. Reinaldo and Hume were excellent against talented wing backs. Alderate is going to be my favourite player, the lad looks class. But the final shout-out is for Big Dan Ballard. A colossus in defence and a superb header to put them game beyond doubt.

Magnificent performance! We are back! Thank you KLD! Thank you RLB!

First thing I want to say is I hope Seelt isn’t as bad as it looked He must be gutted poor lad.
Hi replacement looks class and also money well spent elsewhere. Where do we start.

The system worked perfectly other than 20minutes first half when there seemed to be space between midfield and defence.

The midfield 3 looked strong. The wingers were both great and got stronger.

First half their defenders looked solid but we got in behind a couple of times and you give the feeling we would find space between the central and other defenders. Both our players got off the mark.

Our back 4 were solid and used the ball well.

Roefs is totally reassuring with feet and hands.

Le Fee also looked quality when he appeared.

Brilliant start that. We’ll have watched Burnley and we’ll beat Burnley.

Hard to pick a man of the match but I’m going for Diarra who will be some player for us.

Sat on the train back to Whitley Bay listening to two pissed mags bemoaning the state of their club, ‘we need Dan Ashworth, we need Amanda Stavely, Eddie Howe will walk etc etc while reading this joyful board.
