It's staggering the number of people, including the shadow home secretary, who are using the cases of Ricky Jones and Lucy Connolly to demonstrate this so-called two tier justice. Connolly pleaded guilty and was sentenced. Jones pleaded not guilty and was cleared by a jury of his peers. Perhaps if Connolly had done the same she might have had the same outcome. FWIW I think they're both as bad as each other, and both should have received a non-custodial penalty. He took a chance though and won.

Yep. It could be argued that Connolly was the victim of poor legal advice. Or you could also say that she was prepared to be a martyr for the Tory party, in much the same way that Rosa Parks was in the 1950s (but obviously not for the Tories in her case).
