Also have you seen the amount of players that have actually scored 20 goals in the PL lately. It’s not that easy to find a striker that’s going to guarantee you goals at all but you can go for profiles that will suit your system and it’ll give them the best chance at scoring and I feel we have that. Isidor and Mayenda pulled up some very good stats in their first full seasons in English football that a lot of people were saying they couldn’t do or would find it hard to do. There’s no saying they won’t improve (they will) and could take to this league even more with teams not using as much of a low block against us like champ teams did.
I said league season. I notice Isidor scored 12 now tho so yeh worth pointing out that was a 49 game season so we can normalise that down to 38
all I’m saying is I don’t think it’s enough and they’re untested. I absolutely understand the optimistic view that they are going to be great. But they’re untested.
Was listening to a podcast today, not sure if it’s true but apparently no Arsenal player scored 10 league goals last season. Sounds too mad for it to be true. I think our best chance is to be totally disciplined as a team and try and take our moments. Not as backs to the wall as the Coventry away game but that same for discipline for the full 90. If we stay in games, we will get chances. I think we’ve got strikers that will take them when they come but time will tell.
But your point was right that we had untested players last year and got promoted. I still think Mayenda or Guiu could explode this season and make my whole argument look silly.
I worry more about the creativity than the strikers. Not because I don't rate the lads, just because we need a clear route from midfield to attack other than out wide, where we currently have only three lads fit. I would be more at ease if Mundle was fit.
I think we’ll score on the counter fairly often but we definitely might struggle breaking teams down if they start going defensive against us after going a goal or two up. that said, we now have a Xhaka and I kinda feel reassured knowing he’ll know what to do
Yeah I see that but btw Xhaka was rated as one of the most creative midfielders at Leverkusen even though he was playing deeper. Also Diarra is quite a creative midfielder too aswell as physical and athletic
RLB described Alderete as an intense defender who he wouldn’t want to be a number 9 against and that he’s a warrior
Just to ask. If you don't care what anyone says why are you on a forum for open conversation? As for your opinion, you may well be right or you may be totally wrong, we won't know until the season kicks off and we see all the pieces put together. In my opinion I think Isidor is more suited to the prem than the Championship. I think Mayenda will relish the challenge, I think Guiu will add strength and determination to the front line, I think Abdullahi and Ogunsuyi will play their part this season We all have opinions mate but to say you don't care what anybody says kind of defeats the object of your initial post ( if you dot care what is said why post in the first place??)
The trouble is all players are untested at some point until they are tested! How they deal with that is the key.
Tbf he played 46 games(including playoffs)last season and if you remove 8 to make it 38 he still has 12 goals
Phil Smith on his latest OTW has said he had heard we still want another LCB and we definitely want a versatile winger
