Should certainly be grounds for a Lucy Connolly appeal ... I'm not advocating what she did - was downright dangerous given the Twatter loving right wing numpties that would have read it ... but there are an equal number of other numpties that 'could' have acted on this scrote's 'suggestuons' ... EQUALITY and PARITY...
Makes it easier to implement facial recognition, if people kick off. Then in future everyone will be on the database, they will not have to worry about having numbers to arrest you at the scene, they will just pick you up later. Our great future overlord Xi is laughing at us....and thinking go lads go....
Think I'd need to see how the judge put it to the jury and what they were deliberating on. This for me is the important bit in all this. Hopefully one of the rags will have some detail on it ie quotes. I know Fosse said about the woman (Lucy?) could try appealing, but I thought she'd already done that. It's really down to her legal team and what they advised her at the time. She can't really blame anyone but her defence, bet they are ****ing scratching around now after todays outcome. I know Starmer might have wanted cases dealt with quickly, but I'd have thought they can only do that if you go guilty.
I suppose the prosecution could go back and ask for a retrial, if they felt it was in the public interest? Not sure on what grounds mind.
Obviously we don’t know the full details of the case or any case but the risk of pleading not guilty for anything relating to speech feels very low. Even if your case is weak and frankly made up (ooooh I’ve got ADHD now so didn’t really mean to call for murder ooooh) you're gambling on either that being enough or a couple of sympathetic (biased) jurors in your favour.
Oh well, tough aint it. I think the main difference in the Ricky Jones case and Lucy Connolly's is their plea. The latter was clearly badly advised, in hindsight of the sentence she received. I've been on Twitter to have a snoop around and read a few rags, and the only conclusion I can come to is one had a good defence team the other didn't. With the Jury you never know what you are going to get on the day or what their alligiances are, you would hope they are neutral but in todays climate everyone has a side it appears and they are both high profile cases which don't help. I'd pretty much guess one thing though, if this was some 19 year scrout of a chav lad from the Medway Towns, he would have been going down.
To show how little I followed the case, I didn't even realise Ricky Jones was from Dartford, I thought he looked familiar.
Supermarket chain Iceland will financially reward customers who report incidents of shoplifting, as part of efforts to tackle rising levels of retail theft. The firm's executive chairman, Richard Walker, said that shoppers who alert staff to a theft in progress will receive a £1 credit on their Iceland Bonus Card. The company estimates that shoplifting costs its business around £20m each year. Mr Walker said this figure not only impacts the company's bottom line but also limits its ability to reduce prices and reinvest in staff wages. Iceland told the BBC that the shoplifters do not necessarily need to be apprehended for customers to receive the £1 reward but will need to be reported and verified. "We're encouraging our loyal customers to help sound the alarm, and if they do help to catch a shoplifter, we'll top up their Bonus Card to spend in store," Mr Walker said in a statement.
It's just ****ing comical mate, they are losing £20M a year and will reward you with a quid - I think more customers will be encouraging shoplifting for that pisstake. just goes to show how out of touch these CEO's are.
I read somewhere that after October 15th I think, anyone one traveling from UK to EU for holiday etc will have their photo and fingerprints taken before they can get past customs in the EU Does anyone have and info on this
October 12th. It’s starting with people entering the Schengen area will have their photo and fingerprints taken. Apparently it replaces the stamps on passport. It’s a no from me. I’ll stick to long haul. **** them.
Was on the news somewhere that people were shoplifting in Leeds and one of the staff locked the door so they were trapped and people in the shop were helping to keep them inside the shop, the police were informed and they turned up fairly quickly When they arrived the set the shoplifters free and cautioned everyone included in the capture of the shoplifters that they could face charges of KIDNAPPING and causing unnecessary stress to the shoplifters
