I get it, 2.5 weeks to go until we get a resolution one way or the other. As we get closer to the deadline just increases the chances of someone matching our asking price, club walking away or player doing what they can to force a move. The transfer window is the most exciting part of the season for sure
Yeah, think Fernandes will be as well. Not sure what is better for Saints really, clearly we’ve outlined prices we would be happy to accept for them, do we think we’ve outlined dates as well? A scenario where teams match our asking price on deadline day as we haven’t budged and we accept seems like a pretty nightmare outcome
Not if we go out and make a few big signings regardless. But, yeah, last minute shenanigans not wanted.
Potentially, but he might also have other advisers (parents) that see what Saints did for him after he left to Chelsea and want to show a level of respect. There are so many variables that it's almost impossible for us to have any idea if what is happening or what will happen. All we can do is hope that the club stand firm and only let him go for great money.
Well yeah, but with squad numbers being as they are unless we can shift probably 4 or 5 of the “not wanted” type players I can’t see too many more coming in just because of playing time. If players like ABK, Aribo, Taylor, Smallbone, Edozie leave then we have room for a couple of incomings we could do anyway. Could make an argument that if the deadline day scenario unfolds, we are in touch with top 2 come Jan then having the Dibling/Fernandes money could be better used then as we might be more attractive than now for a better quality player if they think in 6 months we’ll have a good shot at being a PL side
Possibly, depends on their options. If say *insert PL club tipped to struggle* were in for the same player as us now you’d fully expect the player to pick the PL team. In Jan PL club could be pretty much nailed on to go down and a player might pick us over them if we look in strong position to go up. Much easier to join halfway through a season where the chances of promotion/relegation are much clearer than they are now. Anyway all hypothetical, just pre empting if they do both go right at the end of the window and we don’t replace it might not be a total disaster, just have to be in or around the top 2 come Jan and spend then. Even without Dibling/Fernandes the squad should be capable enough to do that I think
Spertsyan has just scored on his 150th match for Krasnodar 20 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Omari Hutchinson is definitely at a better option for both Saints and Everton Dibling deserves better.
Bailey at Villa being linked with a move to Roma. Think they could be the club to make a move for Dibling?
