No dig but no one knows what wages he’s on. Do we know the length of the contract yet? Might it be one year with the option to extend? Whilst I’m far from excited about DCL, I guess I’m saying that until we know the in and outs of the deal (assuming we ever get to know) then this might make sense short term IF it keeps us up, which is the sole aim for this season.

To be honest, I thought it might get a few more bites than it did. Must try harder.

Contracts, wages, agreements, they put someone with little knowledge in charge

As Gessa mentioned earlier, Noah Okafor is gaining traction.

He is the winger who gave Schmidt nightmares in the first half vs AC Milan. The lad who did the back heel for their goal. He then went to the 10 role in the 2nd half.

He was really promising at Salzburg. He has that sprinkling of stardust that we crave. Looks like he has struggled in Italy but the game is a little more open here.

I quite like the idea of him coming.

    OK name one.

Name a striker that you'd like Leeds to sign, was available and Leeds didn't try hard enough to sign.

Lecce were open to selling but Kristovic turned us down flat. Wants to stay in Italy.

Muniz was open to leave Fulham but we couldn't agree a fee and they were adamant that he wasn't for sale anyway. I think we could have got this done but personally I dont think he's worth the £40 million required. Smart move by Leeds to leave it well alone.

They are the two that its pretty well known Leeds were in for.

Didn’t you lads make a big profit last season in the Championship? You’ll probably still have a fair bit space for PSR. There’s always big signings out of nowhere in the last week of the window.

I’m not judging teams too much until that closes.

We still owe money from our 3 years in the PL (and mismanagement from the previous owner). We sold more than anyone in Europe last summer so yeah, we should be okay.

That should be your worry. Sunderland have spent alot of money this summer but if you go down then it's a case of hoping you come back up straight away or it's financial trouble for years afterwards.

If we hadnt had come up last season then we'd have had a fire sale this summer and been in trouble.

    The football pyramid is broken.

So you've walked back your assertion that Leeds "allowed" the men responsible for transfers to leave as a new transfer window opened.
As if Leeds had a choice.

But why do you think that the current Leeds United Sporting Director, Adam Underwood, is lacking in knowledge on "contracts, wages, agreements" ?

    From the Leeds United website:
"Adam Underwood has been promoted to Sporting Director, having been at the club for over a decade in roles including Academy Manager and Head of Football Operations. Underwood now adds oversight of the recruitment department to his existing responsibilities, leading player trading, football operations, performance and medical management, and the Leeds United Academy."

    https://www.leedsunited.com/en/news/leeds-united-announce-organisational-changes

So that's over a decade in with the club in the roles of Academy Manager and Head of Football Operations. Why don't you think that is insufficient experience ?

Nick Hammond is a highly regarded executive in football. He built his reputation as Reading’s director of football, then Celtic’s head of football operations before Newcastle United asked him to take control of their first transfer window...
As a consultant, Hammond was being paid for his opinion as well as his ability to close transfer deals....Hammond told Robbie Evans — then the club’s chief strategy officer who their next sporting director should be - Hammond recommended Adam Underwood.

I don't want to sound rude, but why do you think that Underwood is lacking while others think him qualified enough ?

Precisely what I was saying to Doc. If "better" strikers were available, it's not through a lack of effort on Leeds' part, that they didn't join us.

You dont but there are certain people who are more trustworthy than others and if a few of the 'trustworthy' ones confirm something has happened then it's reasonable to think some things are more likely than not.

The only two that seem to be universally accepted are the Kristov and Muniz ones (regarding strikers). The rest have alot of doubt about them. The Dovbyk rumours being one of them. Nobody of any note has tried to confirm Dovbyk contact.

Gus Hamer has just scored from the half way line. Goal of the season already.

Apparently that stardust isnt good enough for some fans.

Cheers. I think our board do a good job. The brutal truth is that, as a newly promoted team to the premiership, we are not a very attractive option for many players and our recruitment team have much bigger obstacles to surmount in order to sign quality players than the more establish premiership clubs.

There will be players available for us at the end of the window.

Although Hamer just added a couple of million to his fee.

Because they're professional people and we know that a newly promoted team to the premiership, we are not a very attractive option for many players.

The more pertinent question is; how can anyone blame the board for not signing the players that they want ?
How can anyone suggest that their lack of success in signing a "marquee" striker was due to a lack of knowledge or motivation on their part ?
