I like his versatility and I think Akpom is a good signing for the Championship level. He obviously had that stand-out season a few years ago where he scored a lot and was a key part of an exciting Middlesbrough side that just fell short in the play-offs. I like that he can play up top, at number 10, and out wide on the left. Hopefully adds a bit of resilience if players get injured or if Broadhead goes to Wrexham. His top-scoring season for Boro was a bit of an aberration, so hopefully we haven't signed someone who had one stand-out year and can't recapture those heights. Having said that, I don't think he currently gets ahead of the likes of Hirst and Szmodics without seeing how he plays on the pitch. I'm a bit concerned that we'll be signing him permanently on good Premier League wages if we go up. I'm not convinced he's going to be an effective centre-forward in the Premier League, so we've potentially locked ourselves into a deal that won't provide much value in the longer term. Then again, if we do get promoted this season - and he's chipped in with several goals from the bench - I don't think the club or us will mind all that much. I guess we can just loan him out next season, if we feel he isn't a long-term solution.
Can always sell him immediately nuggets, losing something like 7 million, is a drop in the ocean if he helps get us up
