Where will Bristol City finish come the seasons end-We have all seen the Struber effect at Sheff Utd. The difference a quality goalkeeper and striker makes and not forgetting the man mountain of Big Rob Atkinson coming back from his fantastic recovery and lone spell at Pompey. I am going 3rd
I WILL POST after working through last tranche by end of AUGUST .......... [ although currently using EOS table based on pre season ko ]
Based on pre-season banter and some reasonable deals I was concerned as to how the squad would adapt to a new manager hopefully with a different philosophy on how to play the game, so I too would have gone for 8th. However if what we saw before our eyes up at Sheff Utd was anything to go by then I truly think we could do even better, but as we all know there is a vast distance before the finish line. I was so surprised by what I witnessed that I totally blocked out the thoughts of that boring stuff we had to endure for way too many seasons and I thought we actually looked quite slick and determined to show the Blades our new stuff this time out. What will we see against Charlton on the weekend is the next question and I hope we stick with a winning way and squad to show we mean business but to keep a torrid pace up for the entire campaign is totally unrealistic but we have started so well on the road.
Too early to say. Saturday was a great win away from home - but although very good there was some luck involved. Sheff U had their chances but didn’t convert them. There were scary moments. We deserved our win, but 4-1 didn’t reflect how close the game was IMHO. Our 4th in particular took a fortunate deflection. I thought their keeper was poor. We could argue that Riis should have made it 5 - but he did what their strikers had been doing all game; missed!! Tonight’s game vs MK Dons was a poor game but we ground out a result. However they are 2 leagues below so we SHOULD beat them. Rambling a bit, but what I’m trying to say is that the signs are encouraging but we’ve only played 1 league and 1 cup game. Ask me after 10 games.
Struberball worked well against Sheffield Utd, a side trying to win. It will be interesting how successful Struberball is against sides who just sit back with no ambition other than frustrate. Much better, as GJ said, to judge after 10 games. If pressed now - 8th.
