Yes, and I also know what "Priorities" are, that's why illegals (or otherwise) aren't top of my worry list.
"Thousands of men we know nothing about are roaming the streets." Millions actually, unless you know every man in the UK?
Why would any country sabotage itself by allowing thousands of undocumented males to freely wander? It is an act of pure madness. The vast majority of Brits are documented. Some will be miscreants, yes - our problem. Why should we have to tolerate (and pay for) foreign criminals?
I'm not sure the current government supports Brexit. It would appear we are inexorably moving back into the arms of Europe. Fact is, this issue with the illegals could have been dealt with from the outset, but the Tories lacked the stones to see it through. I despise them for their cowardice.
"A regulation that was dropped in the wake of Brexit allowed the UK to return some asylum seekers to other EU member states without considering their asylum claims. Post-Brexit, the UK can no longer rely on this mechanism to send asylum seekers back to other EU countries. This arrangement ended when the UK left the EU in 2020." https://news.liverpool.ac.uk/2022/1...xit-factor-into-the-plan-to-stop-small-boats/ Labour, by not reversing Brexit have allowed this situation to continue.
Just to be clear, I've never said that boats aren't an issue that needs to be dealt with seriously, but they are not my only or even my main concern nowadays. There are far more important matters to worry about. Re-join the EU and we can start returning a lot more people to France as soon as they land.
The outlook is exceptionally bleak, mostly because people have been whipped into a frenzy about immigration to distract them from the real problem. Which is the ever widening wealth disparity between the rich and the rest of us. If you’re one of the rich Ponders old bean, you need to be paying a lot more tax, to fix public services and the NHS. Sorry if it hurts, and sorry if some of your tax money goes on things you don’t like, but the answer to our country’s problems is not Blame the Immigrants, it’s Tax the Rich.
It's not really hard to understand. Left-wing social policies wed to right-wing economic policies. Simple.
Have you seen how much they're spunking up the wall on vanity projects? Cut them, the asylum bill and the foolishness associated with net zero, and most of the problems vanish almost overnight. Taxing the rich is a moronic soundbite, which has rarely, if ever worked in reality.
