On the Hume thing. I wouldnt want to see him leave. I would like some vestiges of the side from last season left. And I like him as a player. My one concern is pace in the back line. So many speedsters in the prem and if the right side is Hume and Ballard it would be a vulnerability in our side to manage from midfield.
What role would O’Reilly play? 6, 8 or 10? I saw Him score for Brighton on his debut but know nowt else about him. I’d rather it was another position than midfield to be honest
If it is someone from Brighton then the 3 likely ones would be Welbeck Buonanotte O'Reilly In that order I really like all 3, O'reilly I loved at Celtic and I do feel we are lacking a no10 (takes pens as well) but reckon if he signed then one of our CM will be away (Neil) Buonanotte is class, can play wide right and as a 10 - has good experience and so much upside Welbeck, well he's a mackem don't you know
He’s an 8. Great box to box player. He’s an excellent player but I agree the position doesn’t seem like a priority right now unless Neil is off of course. He’d be a huge upgrade on that front.
not a xhaka level signing but a massive coup and I mean massive sure a prem team could get him but a promoted side is wild
I don’t think we can afford another frontline midfielder - even if Neil goes. There just aren’t the minutes available. If DN does end up departing we should be getting a younger midfielder to develop, who won’t come with an expectation of playing all the time.
O'reilly has been touted to leave all summer, but has played quite a bit in preseason so maybe the stance has changed. They've spent big on a young CF so might been less time for Welbeck, who hasn't been in their last 2 squads.
Understand he's highly rated but it feels like we have much more pressing needs than a fifth central midfielder this window. When centre mid was arguably our strongest position last year!
Be surprised to see a big outlay on another cm mind. Think I'd rather spend that money on a forward player. Sounds a good player though so lets see.
I've thought Welbeck would be perfect since the beginning of the window so it would be nice to see us get him
If they sign anyone on a par with Xhaka, or better, you'd have to wonder what they're saying to prospective signings ... ... I'd start to suspect the tea lady has been slipping something into the cakes during breaks in negotiations
Aye, for €30m - he’d have to be coming in as first choice for that price. Would have to push Diarra or Sidiki to the bench and Neil out of the club
