In the Northam’s defence, last season was probably not the best first season ti judge the change given the season we had but I wonder if it may improve this year.

I moved the opposite way to you this season. I’ve always sat in the Chapel but tried the Northam out a few times last season and bought my season ticket in there this season. I know it’s difficult to tell when you’re in it but I thought we were all together on several occasions yesterday but I do think the way the game was going for large parts probably didn’t help.

Hopefully this season we will have more to cheer about and that will be a better time to judge the impact.

Time will tell I guess but I agree that the ‘banter’ between the home and away fans has been lost. Maybe the club were hoping that the Chapel would start singing! <whistle>

I miss the Itchen North of Old :(

The away fan banter was class, till the club ruined it.

Maybe Kingsland South and Chapel could step up :1980_boogie_down:

Regardless of what we as fans think of it, the club will see it as too early to reach a conclusion/judgement.

But once they do eventually get to that stage - whenever that might be - I would hope that they're open to switching back, in the event that they conclude it hasn't worked. Obviously there would be costs involved with doing that, but that would be their own fault (yet again) and it shouldn't alone be the reason for not improving.

(My own view continues to be that it was wholly unnecessary and a waste of money.)

I doubt if there will ever be a scenario that will suit everyone, the Northam situation is what the majority asked for and suited the Club's need for free standing in one area. When JS scored yesterday it was well up in the loudest sound league. I am in Kingsland North and the Northam are loud from there and very seldom do I hear the away fans. It's all down to "flat pack" stadium accoustics. Not a lot you can do about that.

The few games I went to last season were all safe standing in the Northam/Kingsland corner. Considering how **** we were all season, I was quite impressed with the noise from fans; especially when that “It started in the Chapel, in 1885” song got going, which it mostly did when we were getting battered. Perhaps it sounds quiet from the other end of the ground, but it sounded okay to anyone in the middle of it.

As for the away fans, hopefully people who are up for the banter will eventually gravitate to that part of the ground, as was the case with the Itchen North (wasn’t always lairy iirc)

Sorry but from where I was the noise was incredible from the Northam yesterday after Manning's goal and it almost as if the Northam sucked the ball into the goal for the winner. I think it was a triumph yesterday TBH.

The (prolonged) noise after the winner was deafening.

Well yeah I specifically said up until the equaliser. Home fans raise noise levels after 90th minute equaliser hardly headline news.

What about the rest of the match?

Meh to decent at times. But there wasn't much to cheer about TBF.

Swings and roundabouts. We’ve just had the worst season in our history followed by a game where we were losing to a newly promoted side right until the very end. So I would argue hardly headline news that it’s not been loud. Just don’t think you can judge it fairly yet, and people’s opinions on it will vary massively depending on where you sit.

The thing is, Wrexham had 12 men with the ref and from 90 we had 12 or 13 with the crowd. The noise for the winner was on par with Wast Brom Semi.

I honestly felt the Northam contributed to the winner, even if by only 3%.

I think the 3% alone came from the bloke stood behind me! :cheesy:

For me I think the wall/standing was a great idea and needed to happen.

The cock up was putting the away fans next to chapel. Should have just shifted them next to Northam.

Totally agree. Should have put them in the Itchen corner in front of the surveillance hub

That would have never happened to be fair as they wouldn't have wanted them Infront of the hospitality boxes.

Kingsland north would have worked but would have meant given over the footbridge to away fans.
