Aye usually the further away I am from a large moth the happier I am but this one was fascinating. So odd to see one animal behaving exactly like another, like seeing a cat with an 8 foot neck grazing on a tree.

Totally different species with absolutely no connection whatsoever, just evolved to make use of the same food sources. A great example of convergent evolution.

Saw a bunch of those in Spain a few years ago. I was fascinated by them, trying to work out what the hell they were. Looked so much like hummingbirds. It's only a lot more recently that I googled and worked out they were a type of moth.

They are everywhere now. They are pretty destructive really and don't have a natural predator.
    They need culling.

    Muntjac?

They are appearing round here more and more. I saw them in our local woodland a few years ago and was told I was seeing things. Now they can even be seen in the open fields at times.

My missus made me do a nomowmay, so today I went to cut it, it is full of baby frogs, so that’s no cutting for the foreseeable future <laugh><laugh>

Nowhere near as destructive as the local council with their 'forestry management' con. Removing massive trees and then planting a few hundred twigs <doh>

Garden at work, watched a sparrowhawk devouring a pigeon, while the pigeons mate looked on.
Took a video of it, but cant upload it on here, so a screenshot from the video...
