Different gravy to Wells, Sincs and Fally. I noticed Fally didn’t make the squad today…

Great performance, especially from Knight, Twine and Vitek. One thing is crystal clear though:

    ARMSTRONG. HAS. TO. GO!

Utter utter dog sh!te. His touch, his one on one, his effort. All pish.

Sam Bell as a striker on the counter could really be something.

Today I think we witnessed the change we have been looking for over the last too many years and although I know it's only one game in a long campaign there was something different out there that was quite palpable. Scoring 4 goals at Sheff Utd was just the boost we needed after the play-off debacle of last season and the difference today was the way we bossed the game for long periods and dealt with the defensive side fairly well and most of all the safe hands of Vitek, who is light years ahead of Max. The signing of Riis was a masterstroke if his brilliant performance of today was anything to go by and his drive and energy is a welcome addition to our engine room, and if you throw in the odd goal then lubbly jubbly. Finding 3 goal scorers in your first game of the season and gaining a 3 G/D advantage are bonuses on all levels including from 2 players who I wouldn't shed tears for if they left, but as my lovely wife says a lot - what the hell do you know?

My full congratulations go to Gerhard and his flock so let's keep this obvious togetherness going throughout the entire season and show the pundits they are so wrong about Bristol City being a backwater club. Fortress Ashton Gate? :emoticon-0137-clapp<bubbly>:1980_boogie_down:

It is clearly obvious to all watchers of our matches that Armstrong has to be on his bike to somewhere else, perhaps League One. He has no ball skills and has no idea how to beat a goalie one on one, plus he doesn't seem to know how to jump upwards to possibly head the ball. On Tom's statement above I have to admit I didn't pick up on that point but absolutely great not to see that tip tap nonsense across the back putting the goalie at threat, yet another thing that didn't occur today. All around a fabulous day at the office and the sun just came out for a great day out here on the Pacific coast.

    Only 1 game, but Wow.
Hope he has the same effect as Basso.
A top keeper makes all the difference in whichever level you play.

Have we finally seen the end of that nonsensical tactic of playing out from the back where the ball bounces around backwards and forwards and ends up either putting us in trouble or in the back of the net. Today we saw Vitek control his area and he used good distribution and so I reckon he will keep others on the bench unless he leaves in January which based on today would be sad. There is no point in making your team stronger and then putting a questionable keeper behind them which then cause issues further up-field.

Whole team were magnificent, difficult to pick anyone out, Twine, McCrory, Atkinson, Riis, Knight, and Vitek were the pick for me, but all of the others were all top drawer as well, not one player had a bad game. Get in there lads!!

The amount of goals BCFC conceded under Mr Manning was very low from building from the back. Its logical if Vitek is used as he was versus Real Vallloid stepping into the distribute City will concede more, Bristol City will also score more because of the Keepers range being superior - Risk and reward.

Randall was at fault for their goal but did Vyner exacerbate the fault.
Tbf it happened in an instant but Tanner and Atkinson went for the 'danger'.......did Vyner make the mistake of being drawn to the ball thus losing his man leaving him in acres of space for their goal.

Oh Redprintt, you never leave Zak alone do you. You say Atkinson ‘went for the danger’, he was nowhere near it and got turned inside out…… Atkinson & Vyner maybe could have gotten tighter, but they were caught out of position by Randall losing the ball. I think it’s harsh to criticise the defenders for that goal.

We could have buckled after they equalised, and we had to withstand a lot of pressure, but the team were fantastic and held firm
I think that result will make the division sit up and take notice
Let’s see how we play and get on against Charlton at home next week

    Here’s hoping for another 3 points !
