I still think we have a few centre backs too many.

We've still got Taylor & THB to come back from injury yet as well; plus the youth who are on the fringes (Lawrence, Sanda, Moore etc) .

Think we still need to lose a couple there (including ABK who seems to be awol).

Once THB is back fit, I can't see Wood getting a look in at all, even considering injuries and rotation. He's better than 5th/6th choice surely?

Forgot about Taylor! I thought he was on his way out? Whether you count him as a CB or LB he seems to be surplus. The youth CB who based on pre-season is closest to the first team is Sanda who I think would benefit more from going out on loan then being 5th choice and getting basically no game time. Wood may not be happy to be in that position as 5th choice either, I have no idea. Same for Taylor.

I think we need 5 senior CBs for the season. Stephens, Edwards, Quarshie, THB and Wood or Taylor.
Sell ABK and one of Wood or Taylor.
Loan out Sanda and the other youth you named either play for the 21s or go out on loan too.

Companies are allowed to trade with Russia - only certain goods are restricted.

Regardless, it is not on southampton football club to set the precedent. All we should do is play by the rules as everyone else does.

Have a scan - in the vast majority of sectors it is absolutely fine and down the business to decide. Saints should do whatever we can within the limits of the law.

Whether the laws are fair is a completely different debate and one I agree is not suited to this thread!

Don’t know how the situation with Wednesdays finances is, but a purchase and a loan back to them would be an opportunistic move

Player might not want that. Especially if an apparently slot has opened up at Leicester

It is interesting to read the comments about the surfit of central defenders. In thr basis of yesterday's performance, I would he inclined to move Edwards on.

You're not seriously going to write him off after one half of football when he's already proved competent at this level?

Based on one game? Forgetting the fact he was one of the leagues best centre backs in the 2nd half of the last season?

Maybe a slight exaggeration, but you don't win young player of the season when you're ****.

I felt he was underwhelming yesterday. Just thought it was odd that he wasn't considered to be moved on. If he has the potential you believe , I would not count against the possibility of moving him on and getting some income.

⚫️ Club Brugge making progress on several fronts at the same time! Although they had dropped the trail at the end of July, the Bruges side are BACK in the race for Samuel Edozie with an offer considered insufficient by Southampton FC. Edozie is hesitating between Racing Strasbourg and Club Brugge, and is expected to make a decision within the next 24 hours.
#RCSA already has a verbal agreement with Saints FC.

To be fair Ian it’s not just one person believing the potential. Lots can see it and the most important of those is the club. Sure, he’s not the finished article yet but I fully believe he will be (he was also involved in the England U21 setup). To move him on now would be a massive mistake and to judge him on one game even more so.
