Thought we all loved Gary Speed?

I've taken this post down. We all loved Gary Speed I suppose in our own individual ways. We shall celebrate his life and our memories at Saturdays game.

 

Was discussed but it took 3 months to get this one up, so it could have been another 3 months to get a new one up, for potentially one week.

 

A brewery would be a terrible place to have a piss up. Lack of seating, no entertainment, not to mention the health and safety issues with drunk people around machinery.


I think a lot of people thought it would have been too 'fresh' to have a banner up straight away, it was still hitting some people hard. Plus, do you know how difficult it is to get a banner put up on this forum?

 

Most of the 3 months was spent with polls and amends. I for one would have respected the tribute banner knocked up by the present banner designer. It could have been up in 24 hours.

So your answer is do nothing????

Got to get the ok from Mick before changing the banner anyway, don't we?

No it couldn't.

Mick's the only one who can do it, and normally takes him a while to respond to things like banner changes. Last time, Syd set a specific night for us all to give in banners as that's when Mick was doing it. Even that was months after people had requested it. We missed that night by 1 day and waited a further 3 weeks for it to be put up.

 

Someone could have PM'd him last week and simply asked " hey Mick we're thinking of putting up a tribute banner next week. Will that be ok? Be with you for Tuesday. Put it up as soon as you can . Cheers"................we would have known the score.

Instead this " eeeh,, it will take forever, so let's do nothing" atitude is lame.

 

Why didn't you pm him then instead of dishing out hostilities

 

I agree, just thought I'd make the point we had a chance to do something really outstanding and did jack all.

 

I believe in the end a lot of us decided that whilst it would have been a good tribute, we should just leave it.

Just 'cause we haven't put up a banner doesn't mean we don't love Speed.

Nobody does, that's the thing. I don't think Mick reads his messages.

 

Click on forum, then Currently Active Users, and if Mick's online you can PM him from there.

 

Well it's not as if we could all collectively change the banner though. Even the mods can't, as it seems that Mick doesn't read his messages. And even then, anyone can message him! Yeah it was a nice idea, but a very tricky one to implement by the sounds of things.

 

You and I have very different definitions of 'really outstanding'.

 

Stop being a smart arse. Outstanding/special/collectively........mere words. We could in my view done SOMETHING .

I now appreciate the difficulty in getting Mick to do things , but just felt it was a nice idea that got bogged down by committee.

 

AB. Cheers. Remembered Mick put up the GC uncut thread after the nonsense the other week. Mick's off-line so I have PM'd him. I will share his reply with all the lads.

This tbh. Considering the **** that kicked off with the GC lot at the time, a banner wasn't really a priority. And isn't that important.
